After surfing around, it occured to me that people may indeed vote for parties and leaders based on how the leader looks rather party policy although it does influence things as well.

Some of the things I noticed mainly from SomethingAwful forums:

Liberal Party
[img:184:240:b16ad5c710]http://anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/paulmartin.jpg[/img:b16ad5c710]
Paul Martin - Current PM and party leader

Our 'centrist' party. Nothing good, but voted in just because any other option will never be elected and people are afraid of the Conservatives.

Quote:
He looks constipated

Quote:
Isn't as evil looking as Stephen Harper

[img:200:231:b16ad5c710]http://anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/paulears.jpg[/img:b16ad5c710]

Conservative Party of Canada
[img:180:239:b16ad5c710]http://anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/Harpes.jpg[/img:b16ad5c710]
Stephen Harper - Party Leader

Our right wing party. Kinda like the Repulicans in the states.. full of crazy religious people.

Quote:
There's something so evil about Stephen Harper, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Quote:
...Harper's evil soul-stealing eyes...

Quote:
Something is fundamentally wrong with him. I'm not sure what it is, but something about his eyes...

Quote:
It's interesting how people shape their political opinions based around whether or not they think Stephen Harper looks evil.

Quote:
If I need a leader and I have to choose between scary guy (harper) and constipated grandmother (martin), I'd take the scary guy. If someone tries to rip off Canada in some international negotiation, he could totally just stare at them until their head explodes.

Quote:
As for personal affiliations I am completely torn. I was born and raised in Calgary, so Conservative comes naturally for me and would be good for my family. However looking at Stephen Harper for too long makes me shiver.

[img:400:210:b16ad5c710]http://anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/standup.jpg[/img:b16ad5c710]

New Democratic Party
[img:179:243:b16ad5c710]http://anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/Jacklaytonsmall.jpg[/img:b16ad5c710]
Jack Layton - Party leader

Our left wing socialist party. Good policies but don't know how to control spending, we experimented with them in BC for two terms, they almost bankrupted our province.

The video professor (if you haven't seen the ads on TV).
[img:500:479:b16ad5c710]http://anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/videoprofessor8pu.jpg[/img:b16ad5c710]

Bloc Québécois
[img:208:218:b16ad5c710]http://anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/Duceppe.jpg[/img:b16ad5c710]
Gilles Duceppe - Party leader

Our party thats set out to destroy Canada. Quebec wants to seperate from the rest of Canada.

he looks like a hynopist

[img:798:980:b16ad5c710]http://anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/duceppe2.jpg[/img:b16ad5c710]

Green Party
[img:226:293:b16ad5c710]http://anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/jimharris.jpg[/img:b16ad5c710]
Jim Harris - Party leader

Our alternative left of center party that hasn't won any seats yet....

And no one really talks about them....

Other Parties:

Canadian Action Party
An anti-american party really.

Christian Heritage of Party
Wants to use more of the bible in Canadian politics.. lol

Communist Party of Canada
For those who think socialism isn't enough.

Marxist-Leninist Party
Because two communist parties aren't enough in Canada apparently.

Libertarian Party of Canada
"Each individual has the right to his or her own life".... no idea what they want.

Animal Alliance Environment Voters Party of Canada
Will stand up for animal rights...

Marijuana Party
Legalization of marijuana.

Canadian Politics is just a huge funny media circus =)

As for me... if Bloc Quebcois ran in all of the provinces, I might vote for them since Duceppe seems the most competent out of all of them. Let's all leave Canada and call ourselves Quebec or something Cool

Duceppe looks like the emperor from Star Wars.

And I seem to be the only one who voted Kaiser. So sorry Sad .

I guess most people aren't Canadian, don't care, or aren't old enough to care.

Apparently Conservatives have a lead. Depressing.

Oh, and I'm only doing NDP because of the Liberal scandal.
But since I'm going to be working full-time as a teacher in a year, I need to think about money and taxes... so maybe I'll vote Liberal again? Who knows.

I like the Liberals, but Martin doesn't look very dependable. I want the PM to atleast look like he went to college.

I actually don't mind a Conservative minority government. They have some nice fresh ideas, the only beef I have with them is they are too pro-American and religous.

Take away religon from politics and 'stand up for Canada' and not the US then I will be happy to support them.

The best outcome in my opinion is another minority government either Liberal or Conservative. Keeps them on a tight leash and in check.

My vote resides in Toronto, while I reside in Ottawa. This means I cannot vote. (Oh, I can but I'm too lazy to, and I just watched four episodes of Carnivale in a row and I need to go to bed, 'night)

Oh yeah, I'd vote NDP. Their platforms are excellent but never fare well with the public. "So... We take a bit of money from everybody, and make our children's future's better, and make sure we take a little bit more from the rich because they can afford it."

Liberal Voter: I like my money now, who cares about my kids?
Conservative Voter, Part One: I'm rich, screw you.
Conservative Voter, Part Two: They letting them boys marry each other, tha' ain't right.
Youth Voter: I'm jaded and don't care about my future, though I'll be kicking myself in a few years because the Liberals or Conservatives will rearrange my money to make me have little to none.
