Ah.....anime sereis from back in the day...i guess mine woulde be, doraemon, IQ DR Slump, DB, Ranma1/2, City Hunter, sailormoon and Tonari no Totoro (my first Ghibli Film) lol and to think i was like 3 when i watched some of these series

the first one I remember was Sailor Moon TT-TT (Darein(sp?) was such a bishie!!) then I remember Card Captor Sakura, I didn't watch that one as often.

My childhood anime. The very first one I ever watched, and I never even knew the name since it wasn't subbed, or dubbed. Still I loved it, despite I couldn't understand what was going on. I have ever since then, been infatuated with anime. I have only 3 weeks ago found out what it was called, when I found 2 books of the Manga in the Mall bookstore(I was moved to tears when I found out).

Most memorable ones were:
UFO robo Grandizer, Jungle emperor Leo, Tetsuwan Atom, Galaxy Express 999, Tetsujin 28, Gatchamanand, Voltron and probably many more I can't remember. Just these were so famous and I can remember their names easily.
There are several more I can't remember the names of. I would really love to find out what the names of those series were.
Also, as Bowser mentioned, I've seen lot of anime based on western literatures or western settings. Lots of these "quality" children's anime were produced by the company Nippon Animation.
I specifically remember watching Dog of Flander's, Anne of Green gables (Akage no Anne). The Anne of Green Gables is huge in Japan, and it's the reason why the house of the author of Green Gables gets so much Japanese tourists. Because her house actually has Green gables and it's still being maintained as sort of a museum. Well that's pretty much what PEI of Canada is known for, that and potatoes...
PS: Oh and forgot to mention one which occupied huge part of my elementary school days, Dragonball manga. The anime didn't air on tv where I lived, so I mostly rented them and read manga. I was such a die hard fan of Dragonball, it's not even funny. All I'd draw at home and school would be Dragonball characters and mostly talked about Dragonball with friends.
I guess Dragonball was my first real anime obsession.
