I want to know why you do or do not like Apple computers. Be specific and intelligent in your responses. Anything older than five years ago is off limits because its tedious to speak about the past as if it is the future.

The macintosh is quite a superior system since it rarely has the security problems as the PC because most viruses were made for the Windows OS that is the major gripe about Windows OS anyways. However the Macintosh as a gaming computer is quite the piece of shit. A vast majority of games will come out for the PC only and later or never release the macintosh version mainly because its appeal is not of a gaming platform and more business and rare users. Since from my observations has only a few problems, however when a problem does occur on the mac you're better off throwing it out the Window because Do-It-Yourselfs on the Macintosh is pretty retarded as you could not do more then RESET or override which will result in a major system failure and bam instant mac brick. Although the new macintosh with the intel processor is quite the piece I could not shell 5 grand to obtain it.

The PC is a major customization computer that could be bent to your likings while Apple has a indestructable interface that you would be a part of instead of the creator. I prefer the PC myself anyways because of the customization and 3rd party support it recieves.

Sorry Steve Jobs but I would never use my money for a Macintosh.

Of course I'd like to tell the original poster to stop posting stupid shit because he/she is a retard that contributed nothing to the thread and rather just creating post counts rather than having an actual thread worth mentioning or a valid reason to get someone else's opinion.

I hope this is a well structured long post and would love to note this is a rare occurance that this should happen.

THe technology Apple uses is all rather redundant. Apples are much much much slower compared to other coms. I think Apple is all about form over function whereas other coms place higher priority to function.

Although i uses windows com,i think apple com is cool... It has an anti-hang system and u could adjust the size of screen of limited to full-screen games e.g WC3 so dat u could use msn n play WC3 at the same time... but if u had used to windows com, u had juz to get use to the setting of apple com(e.g no start at the task bar)

Loveless, thank you for assuming I am both a retard and that I was posting this merely to create post counts. I'll admit that if it wasn't for the point system I wouldn't be posting anything here, but I had ever intention of adding to this thread.

With the crap out of the way on to contributing to the thread.

Games:
Loveless, I think saying that for games the Mac is a piece of shit is quite the exaggeration. Yes the new games are fewer and often delayed compared to their Windows counterpart but they still play games pretty good. There are many small fun games available only for the Mac. There is huge room for improvement in the number of high profile games and I think that the intel switch will help the programers with tweaking video card performance (intel based Macs will mostly be running the same cards as Windows machines).

Problems:
Loveless, you are wrong about Macs being worthless when something goes wrong. Where did you get that idea? If anything Macs are far easier to fix problems than with Windows. A big reason for this is that standard users and even admins don't have the authorization to modify the primary system. This frees up the knowledgeable user to delete files that the system can recreate without causing further problems. Many issues with Mac problems are caused my third-party software writing the wrong permissions. This can be fixed with a few clicks of the mouse. Other problems can be fixed by deleting .plist files that are corrupted, also something easy to do. Even if your system manages to get really messed up you can boot your computer as a an external firewire harddrive, allowing you to fix your computer from any other Mac (unless it is a hardware failure). Because of the authorization I talked about earlier you have to try pretty hard to mess up the system. Aside from a hardware failure you can always restore a system, Windows or Mac. Thats all I care to talk about for now on this subject.

Pyrorecca, how is Apple technology redundant? Are you talking about Unix, how the system is set up or something else. OS X has many features that won’t be available for windows until Vista, and it is compatible with nearly all major protocols. If you’d like an example Safari (the Apple web browser) was the first browser to meet the latest browser standards (I can’t remember if it is called acid something). Let me know if you have something specific in mind.
Macs are not slower than other computers. They often cost more to get the speed but that is another issue. The quad processor G5 is both incredibly fast and is competitively priced with other machines of the same caliber.

I’m off to bed but keep the comments coming.

Well, I actually think the graphics on Apple computers are gorgeous, but Appleworks quails in comparison to Microsoft Office. I think that Windows is more user friendly, and the appearance is a lot cleaner than Apples.

Apple displays some incredible technology, but it's not the end of it all. Working on Mac, I had my fair share of problems. Once, a system crash rendered the working file corrupted. I searched for any options to bring back the file to life, only to find that it is considered "normal" that OSX and Quark crash sometimes and to always nake some sort of backup every hour or so. I had to redo a 104 pages catalog in 2 days because of this "normal bug". I did it in 2 days, on the PC.

Technology wise, OSX never impressed me. You know why ? Windows XP works. I never reboot my computer, except for security updates and once a week to "let it cool off". Having "ultra-fast" search capabilities and having an OpenGL gu are pointless to me. I organize my files with folders and I don't care if it doesn't feel pretty.

The software I use is on a PC. The features I want are on a PC. Let OSX be the nice "living room computer" it wants to be. I need to work on this thing and OSX doesn't cut it.

Honestly i think that mac's are a fucking joke. They aren't really there own plateform anymore. What's happened in the New mac OS is that they have taken the unix plateform and placed the old face of a mac OS on top of it. If you watched the history of the Mac OS you would see that in recent versions you get all of these new command line options. If a person fluent in unix commands looked at them he would laugh because they are exactly the same.

Now then onto reliability. The mac OS is extrodenarily reliable, but you can't tweak it in any real way. Window's you can do almost anything, and linux you can do anything that you can program. So, the Mac OS is great in my openion for people that don't really understand the workings of a computer and are worried that they might fuck shit up. But, if you're look for really powerful software i would go with windows because most everything has been developed for it (except some hacker programs). I mean even the programs that were once thought to work much better on the apples (video editing, photoshop, autocad, 3dsmax) have been converted on over to windows OS and has a faster time at running things such as filters or compiling video.

If you are looking to become a programmer get the fuck away from the mac. IT can do some of the same things, but you can't run most of the industrial programs on it like visual studios. Actually if you are looking to become a program i would get very familiar with linux. The industry isn't aiming in that direction yet, but it's an uncharted frontier that has massive potential for taking windows down one day.

If you say that mac just looks better, well you're stupid because you haven't done your research into display hacks. There are many programs out there that can take the face of another OS and place it into windows.

Now, i know i sound that some windows freak, but right now it's what i know the best and i can manipulate the most. It does have many things about it that piss beginners off, but if you get into hacking the OS then you can find out ways to like shut downs processes running in the background. and boost your performance by quite a bit (the way to do this is to go into run and type msconfig).

But any ways, my personal openion from where i stand. MAC's Suck.

dont forget that if your mac is broken and fucks up you have to get it taken to a mac store usually and those are few and far between or even send it in because if you dont you void your fucking waranty. mac's do have alot of problems and yes you can hack macs yes there are root kits for macs you just dont hear about them because mac users make up a small percentage of the computer market and news, same shit applies to linux and BSD operating systems. apple has been known to also lie and tweak test results to make macs seem better and superior to pc's http://spl.haxial.net/apple-powermac-G5/ has a nice little article about it. oh yeah and did i forget to mention how fucking ugly their pc's are? they threw out afortability and functionality (ie. g4 noise google it) just to make it butt ugly..gg apple gg

Only those who have never actually owned and have gotten familiar with a mac would say it sucks. I've been using PC's all my life and I'm no computer guru but I'll tell you ever since I bought my G4 powerbook not only is it faster the any other laptop I have ever owned I have never gotten a virus nor had any programs ever freeze up or gotten the dreaded illegal operations warning(I hate that @#$%). And as far as online gaming its ridculous fast and the graphics are the @#$%. Oh yeah I can run adobe photoshop and iTunes or Pro Tools at the same time like it ain't @#$#! I could never do that with a PC. But know that macs are geared more toward artists like musician, which I am, and photographers, which my roomate is, we would never buy a PC again. Buy a PC if you are a programmer or some bussines F#$%er. Oh yeah, ARTIST MAKE WORLD INTERESTING!!!

That's so untrue. You'Ve been using crappy PC all your life if it'ss true. Know why ? Apple just trashed the PowerPC chip in favor of Intel CoreDuo (a PC chip mind you). Apple themselves benchmarked the thing and evaluated the performance to be 4 to 5x faster then the PowerBook G5... Opps G4, they never could put a G5 chip inside a PowerBook....

All the software you mention here are available on PC. Only specific Apple software is somewhat reserved to the OSX platform. If you like the GUI, if you like the tools available for it, by all means, buy an Apple product, but you are pointing the wrong when pointing toward artist... That was in the mid '90 ...
