How i did it...
First, I gave a basic outline and middle tone of various elements for the whole picture(then I will know where my sky and mountains are and to roughly know the colour I can use later . Then, I slowing add in details, working from back to front.
Details of clouds and smoke are added in quite late in the stage of my work since the highlights, shadows and colour of my mountains and sky are more important.
I used a Lot of 10 and 20% opacity brushes, quite a lot of smudging and some other brushes.
Hope that answer some of your questions, AIDim |

Thanks for the info.
I never get to drawing scenery and advanced coloring in Photoshop. I guess that's because doing it with a lousy mouse is pretty much impossible
Anyway, that's a great drawing, it just looks like the cliff is less detailed than the rest. |

Wow, how much did they pay you to do that?
Very good piece of CG. Do you do this for character art as well? |

Haha... that's what kind of result you get with a lousy moniter. Before what you see now, it's worse. On my moniter, the whole picture look good. However, once I browse with my company's moniter, it's was horrible. A lot of brush marks could be seen, the cliff turned out really ugly.
The cliff do seem like it lost detail since I didn't want to spend ages on getting cracks for the cliff.
Spent about 3 nights to finish this work...
I do the same for character art. Depends on what style I'm doing.
Actually, it's not really necessary to use wacom for doing painting in computer. I did see some CG works done by this artist using only mouse. Man, it was amazing. It's some realistic looking. Too bad I didn't take note of the URL. |

Well, it's possible but it would require much more time |

I been suffering with a mouse for yearsssss...and the pain keep on going and going
but rest assure...soon I will "finally" get myself a pen tablet
NO, not the pen tablet pc...I still have a long way till I get there
haha but it won't be a Wacom, can't afford them,
I really like that mountain, it's great...what magic a pen can do huh, haha
(I should stop using "my lousy mouse" excuse for not working on new projects, haha)
but still that mountain is great...I wish people pay me to do drawing too, been doing them for a while and yet not a single penny... |
