ah thanks..sigh..i kinda forgot the part when they went in to the hollow world.
regardless, can someone explain the ranking of hollows then?! Because, in the anime it was rather rushed and i think manga explained it better..i hope.
Yup, it's more detailed in the manga.
firstly, there is the "normal" Hollows where you see Ichigo fighting on the streets. These are the weakest.
The strong ones are known as Menos Grande.
The Menos are further dividedto three ranks :
Gillian the weakest,
Followed by Ajucas,
And Vastrode the strongest
Now the ranking of Arrancar is slighly different,
they are hollows who made contact with the Houhgyokyu and removed their masks, and they can come from any class of Hollows. Of coz, Arrancars are stronger than normal Hollows, but to have the strongest Arrancr, would be of coz to get a Vastrode Class to become Arranr.

so if you become arrancar...you cant go back to the ranking of hollow but...in to the new class of arrancar?
if a vastrode becomes a arrancar is there a chance that the ajucas could be more powerful?
What is the houhgyokyu?
The Hengyoki or whatever it's called, was that small orb that Benehara created and hid in Rukias mod soul when she first came to Ichigos town. Basically it has all the powers of a soul reaper and a hollow all in one. Thats why Aizen wanted it so bad and went to hollow land when he received it.

we now know why Renji's fighting style is the way it is and the courtesy of saying one's name in battle.

There was no narrative in the begining
On another note. It's nice that they told his background story and why he won't use his bankai. On the other hand I would have liked to see his bankai in action and not the aftermath of the battle. That was a letdown.
i thought if you break your bankai...like.. when its broken it take some years to recover it right? or something like that..so now badly supposely should have lost the battle...right?
oh yeah...that reminds me who did baldie beat? is he one of the best arrancar? so technically bankai still pwns them?!
in the last episode, i remember it said that Vastrode have higher ability then captain level. i just didn't expect the two vastrode was being defeated that easy

you shouldn't assume so readily that they are vastrode they are probably of lower class than that especially the one defeated by rukia..
as for ikkaku being stronger than renji i find extremely unconvincing, ikkaku was 1st stage boss for ichigo in soul society renji was a lot more trouble, i even remember ganju saying when they ran into renji that his rieatsu is on different scale tan the ones encoutered before him.. _________________

Well, first thing's first. Ichigo had no prior training from Uharahasan when he encountered Renji on Earth. Renji had experienced battling Ichigo before encountering in Soul Society, thus giving him more a better estimate what to expect from Ichigo's fighting style and level.
Second, I believe Ikkaku said that he underestimated Ichigo during their first encounter because he thought he was just some shrimp. With having that kind of mindset while at the same time your passion for fighting is just for fun, you'll end up getting beat much more easily. He didn't even know what Ichigo was doing there until like at the end of their fight, if I remember right; while, on the other hand, Renji knows that Ichigo's putting up his life for Rukia.
Does that convince you?
I'm actually neutral between who is stronger between the two. But it does make you wonder, though, after watching Ikkaku's flashback.

That part was changed. In the manga it is established that the 3rd strongest in 11th squad was Renji, who goes on to the 6th squad as lieutenant and leaves the 3rd place to Ikkaku. According to it, Ikkaku did not teach renji how to fight, they were just good friends all along while together in 11th squad. it's because they were good buddies that Renji knew about Ikkaku's bankai, but renji would then have some sort of edge over Ikkaku, at least when using Shikai. It is kind of obvious that Ikkaku did acieve Bankai before, so if they were going to the maximum Ikkaku might be the one with the edge.
As to why he lost to Ichigo: it is pretty obvious that Ikkaku is keeping his bankai a secret. If he had used it in Soul Society everyone would have found out about it. As far as Shikai went Ichigo overpowered him, although it is pretty obvious that Ikkau did underestimate him. _________________

Yeah I think the main reason is he kept his Bankai a secret.
Another thing I thought about was maybe Ikkaku knew that Ichigo didn't know how to use reiatsu yet...so Ikkaku wanted to fight with out using his reiastsu...on fair terms....
Ikkaku is someone who likes to fight and has a lot of pride in that...so he maybe he wanted to convince himself that when it comes to hand to hand combat...with no spiritual power...that He was a better fighter than Ichigo.
The latest episode was ehhhh (120). I wonder what this whole limit thing is about though.
