This was just another example of a reporter who was given some garbage information, then ran with it. This is nothing new.
I actually like the fact that anime is a little misunderstood and obscure - like absinthe, social engineering, or music theory. It's another one of those subjects that you won't understand unless you've immersed several hours in it at first. Most people won't go through that much trouble to open their minds; they'd rather watch what's dubbed, processed and spoon fed.

If I'm not mistaken I do believe that Malaysia has a rather large Islamic community. Now I don't really want to bash Islam in general because I do know that there are moderate Muslims that disapprove of the fanatics that cause a lot of problems in the world these days. Not everyone that follows Islam is willing to strap on a bomb and climb into a bus full of innocent people. Neighter does every Muslim have a hard on to preach to everyone what is moral or immoral, and throw up something as general as anime and say that it is all immoral.
This isn't a Muslim problem either. There are plenty of Christians that will tell you that anime is evil (excuse me maybe that should be EEEEEE-VIL). I'm sure if you ask Moral Majority Leader Jerry Falwell or his cronies Pat Robertson or George W. Bush (or any other type that thinks "if it don't give me more power over how I think people should be thinking" type of religious leader or power monger) they will most likely say that anime is a blight on the youth of the world and should be banned.
Welcome to the world of the minority, anime fans, and the paranoia that goes with it. The only thing saving anime now is that most folks are too apathetic to even concider that cartoons may be rotting your brains and morals. After all the most they will probably ever see are Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh. Just kids shows. Right? Most aren't even aware that Pokemon is the show that used to send hundreds of Japanese kids into epileptic siezures with it's flashing special effects (before they toned them down). No people can't get too upset about kids shows, not at all.
Okay I had a bit of fun here. I really do doubt that anime will be in any great danger. At worst some Muslim and Evangelical kids won't get to watch.(actually there are a lot of hard core Christian religions out there that might urge the parents to use the channel blocker to deny their kids Pokemon or Yu Gi Oh and maybe those kids won't grow up to be bleak, mindless automotons that burn books while telling their kids "I never watched anime and see how well I turned out"). Enjoy your favorite shows and have hours of fun. I only ask one thing. Everyonce and a while look at what you are watching really close and see if there is some kind of moral to the story even if it's something lame like be nice to your pets, and then take a deep breath and look around at the world around you and the people running it and ask yourself if they really have your best interests at heart. Then be afraid.
NO! Anime isn't sex... Nor violence. But the true is the firsts animes who came from de orient were the hentai ones or the violent ones...
Because of that everybody say anime is hentai or is violent...

Yes today we have fanservice but sex isn't the focus.

It is kinda like when my mother says that Japanese cartoons are all about Demons, and spiritisim, rencarnation, and violence and sex, and that they are evil. I tried to explain, but I gave up after a while.
So, basicly, people need to get their facts starit about things.
The real problem is that a lot of people are too lazy to check things out for themselves and are all too willing to let "Experts" and "People in Authority who have all our best interests at heart" tell them what is good and what is evil. Either you watch a lot of anime with devils and evil spirits in front of her while disembowing cats and dogs or it's likely some "Expert" she saw on TV told her that anime is evil (come to think about it some of those ". experts" say Harry Potter is evil).
The really sad thing is that you can now strap your mama down in a lazyboy and play all the cute non demonic anime in the world so she can see for herself how evil it is and she won't change her opinion (if anime weren't evil would you be doing things like strapping your mama down in a lazyboy?).
No friends the real forces of evil are ignorance and apathy and the so called "experts" that feed on the brains of the ignorant and apathetic like zombies who chant "this is evil" "rid the world of this evil". There isn't much you can do about how other people see anime except lead lives above reproach (then they'll say your only vice is you watch those evil jap cartoons). However, you can make sure that you stop the madness by not being lazy and letting other people tell you how to think. Question everything someone tells you about what is evil or good. Don't let the media zombies eat your brain turning you into a zombie as well (can you tell that yesterday sci-fi channel had a butt load of zombie movies on yesterday?)
