Haha.. I guess I stand alone with my preference for English dubs, as I feel you miss little things while reading, or at least I do. And I've only come across one show where the VA was bad enough to make me watch it in Japanese and that was Devil Lady.
Also I can't help but feel that the the Japanese VA sound too much alike in many cases, and it causes a detached feeling that again detracts... as I'm not drawn in at all. Shows like Trigun just don't work for me in Japanese, Vash comes off much better to me in English.
And then shows like Ghost In The Shell are just a complete BORE in Japanese, though the English version is no masterpiece its still infinitely better then the Japanese version. _________________ [IMG:306:120:f131a8996d]http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/51a780ad06.jpg[/img:f131a8996d]

I might be odd but I like both, it just depends on the show and whos dubing it. Some companys do horible jobs at dubing so I watch the subs in thoes ones, the good dubs I watch.
A good example is FMA I will not watch its dub version becouse of all the screw, up's. There are also some origanal dubs and redubs that are compleaty different from eachother, Like Gundam 0083: Stardust Memories, THe origanal dub follows the subs fairly well or at least it did in the first ep. the redub wasent even close to the oraganl dub.
Sometimes I like english, sometimes I like japanise |

Japan audio with English subtitle for me. Though i agree with Ultron on missing things when you have to focus on reading. Though sometimes i really wish i could just sit there and understand it all without reading the subs. But the English audio is usually just so horrible. I have a few Dual audio episodes of some anime. And when i listen to the English voices. It just sounds wrong...
But in the end i think it's just what your use to. If you started listening with English dub the jp one will probably sound weird. Atleast the anime i saw on tv with English dub never bothered me... _________________ [IMG:430:120:e3eaef3cc8]http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/Sephi2K7/Signature/Yurisigv1b.jpg[/img:e3eaef3cc8] |

Who do you think from dubbed anime who do not have the correct voice actor?
I think Naruto Uzumaki. His english voice actor don't fit him. |

For some animes english is better because the voice seems to fit the characters alot same goes for Japanese.
I think the Japanese voice of Naruto sounds alot better then the english, less annoying and more funny..
But I like the english voice of Kakashi more then the Japanese.. _________________ [img:233:120:f2a749bf82]http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o294/Tears90/haruhi13019mv.gif[/img:f2a749bf82] |

i prefer both japanese and english dub..
Coz i can understand both of those languages...
But sometyms english dub best fits the character in an anime.
..it sounds more wackier..romantic...and scarier... _________________ [IMG:500:175:100ce23377]http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u11/freezing_angel/streetsoulhihasra07.jpg[/img:100ce23377] |

Well i have to say there there are good dub's and there are bad dub's i think it depends on the company that produces it i think one reason that people like the jap lag better is because ppl download fan subs and thats all there used to and i admit i watch them all the time for example when i 1st started watching GTO it was in jap i watched the 1st 13 epo and got hooked on all the actors and they all did a great jop of bringing the char to life and then my friend wanted to watch the series and he hates reading sub's in less he has to and i watched the rest of the series in english it wasnt bad they did u pretty good job wit it lol it took some time getting used to but it all paned out in the end but i can say there are shows i pefer to watch in jap and those i perfer to watch in english but it's the viewer's coice good are bad it what u like. |

i agree...it all comes down to the dub...
because the original japanese audio hasn't failed me before, i prefer Eng Sub...but if the English Dubbing i pretty ok like Anplex's Dubbers..then i think English Dub is ok... |

-Casual fans = Probably prefers English dubbed, probably even keeps track of English VAs. Watches fansubs when the series is not available in English yet.
-Midlevel otaku = English subs always, keeps track of Japanese VAs. To them, English dubs are the evil that must not be heard.
-True weeaboo = Learns Japanese and watches raws and buys region 2 DVDs from Japan, eventually moves to Japan. _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img] |
