I just checked out some news recently, and I heard that Nintendo is redesigning the DS to make it a little better than before (smaller, and the screen is better-quality).
Here's the link:

Wow...I really like their design for the new DS. It really focuses on the square, more geometric shaping than the original DS went with. I thought that the DS felt too bulky when held and thought that the design really had room for improvement and I'm happy to see this version.
But with the praise I still have some complaints. I really thought that the system could do with a major graphics improvement because the graphics on the original DS is a bit lacking, well that's a light way to put it. I hope that the touch pad screen doesn't get scratched as easily as the original DS did because right now my touch screen looks like it's been used with a razor blade...it's really that bad.
I would also like to see what the back looks like. I mean the front and interior looks good, but the back...I mean I thought that the DS's back was just horrid looking because the black coloring and the horrible set up of where the games were inserted.
(Are the second and third pictures the actual size???? If so then that is just awesome!)
The design reminds me too much of what an iPod looks like though...but the White PSP looks like an iPod too and it sold perfectly fine. I think that the pearl white color is the new hand held system color of choice. _________________ PM some funny pick-up lines please > |

Is the back really that bad? To be honest, I've never really held a DS in my hands before... Ok well, just once at a store, but the DS was encased in those protective cases to prevent theft.
But aside from that, it really would remind you of an iPod with that white, clean look. I sort of like how they engraved that DS logo on the front. _________________

| I hated the original DS's design. It was bulky and ugly. Definitely not worth my time. The new DS on the other hand, looks a lot better. I would definitely think about getting one. The quality of games for the DS has also been very good too. Definitely a very big factor in buying a new console/handheld. |

| It sounds pretty cool, but I've already bought the DS so I am not sure if I will go for this one unless my existing DS' screen gets messed up. If you have not bought a DS it's about time. There are finally some great games for the system now. Great gadget during traveling. |

I think that Nintendo has been releasing too many handhelds in such a sort amount of time. I mean the GBA wasn't that old when the SP was released and sortly after that the DS emerged and then the Micro. They keep releasing handheld varients one after another and you can compare it to the current releasing of the iPod (iPod mini, shuffle, video, nano...etc). _________________ PM some funny pick-up lines please > |

I don't think you even read through the whole article.

Next time, try to read the article carefully to avoid stupid questions. _________________

Is the price going to be US$145? Not higher or lower? _________________ Life is full of truth, but I'd rather live in lies. I know if I live in lies, everything arent for real, but if you say you love me, is it something I could feel? |

I think that it would probably be a little bit more expensive, but i'm not sure. Nintendo doesn't really seem to be wanting to compete with Sony's PSP because the two handhelds seems to be attacking different aspects of gaming. The DS really emphasizes on interaction in the sense that it wants the player to be as involved with the game (the touch screen and how you yourself have more control). _________________ PM some funny pick-up lines please > |

| i think nintendo is losing their touch. in the beginning, they were doing great since they had no competition but with playstation and xbox and other companys...theyre looking pretty shabby. and also, i prefer nintendo sp or advance than the ds. |

Yeah... and they're making tons of money in process? Nintendo is doing better than any other game company on earth my friend. Their profits went way up this year, even with their ongoing DS shortage in Japan.
and you prefer the gameboy advance? Nintendo DS is not a gameboy line, but you can still play advance games, DS has a slot for DS game and a slot for advance cartridge. So you can have 2 games pluged in at the same time.

You forgot the microphone feature. Several DS games make use of DS's built in microphone. Sometimes that feature is very annoying though. I found out that when you play DS in a car or bus, the game thinks the microphone is being used because of vibration noise. One game I'm always carrying around is Puyopuyo Fever and this game lets you taunt your opponent by blowing on your microphone, but in a moving car, the taunting is repeated over and over because of vibrations; forcing me to mute the game.
This new design kind of upsets me. I bought a DS only 2 weeks ago, and now I see a new design...
I am sooo going to sell my DS and buy the new one. The current DS design is ugly as hell and way too bulky and awkward in my hand.
Also I hope they fix the stylus problem. The stylus on DS falls out of the holder very easily, I hope they change it so that you have to push on the stylus to take it out. _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img] |

| I don't really see a point in this... I mean yeah it's thinner but does it really matter? This is only my opinion. |
