I think you've gotten a misunderstanding. Graphics and Quality are two totally different things. DS Lite will be improving on the quality of the screen. As for graphics, it's the games that determine them and not the system, so you'd have to take the argument to your game developer, not Nintendo.

Actually, I'm a Serene fan. It just felt like too much work getting a good screenshot of her. (Rose's human form is soo cuute!) _________________

You know, I was fine with my huge and bulky DS, and now they put out this slick and sleeker version. Damn you Nintendo for making me spend all my money! Oh well, I'll be trading my old DS in for a new version when it comes out.
Well, the only real differences that will matter is the brighter screen and the new microphone location. To tell you the truth, I can see my DS screen just fine right now, and I don't have any games that use the microphone (Mario Kart, but I don't do the battle stages). All its functions are still the same.
Did I mention it comes in three different colors? Yup, Nintendo loves to make it's consoles in multiple colors. Why not the DS Lite? In fact, I was surprised the original DS only came in that standard gray/silver color.

Maybe it would have been better to say why would they change the power of the system? Either way, I'm aware that developers have to bring out the best in the system to make better looking games. Looking at PS2 games now and the games released around launch shows that. My point was basically, you wouldn't make any significant hardware changes. Having a brighter screen, and making the machine more portable are good changes... Not so much anything that would make you feel too cheated though.
Extra color choices are always a good thing. I think the best color releases were the Platinum GC and all of those awesome N64 colors.
(Ya know... In all the time that I've lived in the Pittsburgh area... I'll never understand why the say we're "Black and Gold" ... Maybe they think yellow isn't manly enough to state as a football color?) _________________ Running from your problems only wastes time... They always catch up either way.

This isn't the first time Nintendo released improved version of their handheld system. Most notably, GBA SP. GBA didn't even have backlight, GBA SP was significantly smaller, had backlight, and rechargeable internal battery.
This redisign is nothing compared to how GBA owners felt about the release of SP. _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img]

The price gap between the two was pretty significant. At the time, I didn't have either, but when the SP came out the Advance was pretty affordable. If you wanted pretty lighting, you could go get it, if not, then you couldn't. This update isn't close, that's true. The thing is though, the difference between a backlight, and no backlight is different then if they would have changed components that dealt with the performance of it. Like you said before, those were improvements on quality, and that's perfectly reasonable. I fudged up my first point, by not being very speciffic. Basically I'm just saying that it would be a bit much to ask for anything that would change the performance of the DS. That would feel like a shaft.
Alot of my friends had a GBA at the time that the SP came out, it sucked for them, but it wasn't too big of a shock. A quality upgrade vs. a performance upgrade just don't match up in my opinion. I think I've gone way offtopic while trying to explain what I meant... I suck at posting. _________________ Running from your problems only wastes time... They always catch up either way.

When you read a thread for the first time, always read the first post.
BTW what "gameboy" version are you talking about? DS isn't a gameboy franchise, the only current gameboy is the micro. _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img]
if they woulda released this version from the start, they would have had alot better of a chance to compete against psp. now its just too late nobody cares anymore. oh yea psp sucks too. ds games are funner but eh..

Too late? what's too late? DS has been beating down PSP from the beginning. DS has sold more systems and games than any other consoles out there. PSP doesn't even come close to competing with DS.
Currently DS games and systems are top sellers of consoles and games charts.
PSP might merely be trying to sneak into the handheld game niche, but DS is competing with every other console systems, and no other systems come even close to the rate DS is selling. _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img]
Silverkitsune, I agree with your statement completely, however yours only refers to Japan. Your right about DS outselling everything out there. Right now there is a huge DS shortage in Japan.
However in the case of America it isn't doing that great. Yet, I do agree its sells outperform PSP, and there is no doubt about that.
Sure, the DS should have done the redesign in the begining, but in that case you should give the same argument to Apple and their IPOD redesigns. Sure it would be nice if we got DS lite when it first came out, but its better that its now then never. The DS is doing unbelievebly well, and this is coming from a PSP and DS owner (now both of them are gone to heaven; broken by little kids).
DS is in the apex of its popularity and this is a great time for a redesign. I haven't bought a new DS to replace my broken one, because of this news.
BTW, I will be getting the Japanese version when it comes out this march I'll take pictures and make a Console review for A-Source. Keep your eyes peeled for my review _________________ Go Gitaroo-Man, go fight the mighty piano ships with your mighty Guitar AXE!

Well, I guess I can wait a month to see the review (and the pictures )...And do I really need to peel my eyes? Sounds painful. No, I'm just kidding. _________________
At first I thought thought that this was just more of the same old stuff, but after some thought, Nintendo didn't really have a choice, did they? What else could they possbly add to the DS? ^^;;

You're gona make a review? thats great! can't wait to see it... i mean read it. _________________ <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/ill_lumination/UndrGthSig.gif"</img>
Yes, as long as my neighborhood import shop doesn't screw me over, which it hasn't for the past 5 years, I will be doing a review. I will posting pictures of everything.
Please cross your fingers for everything to go fine. At the moment no one is pre-ordering DS lites anywhere in Japan. You can not pre-order DS lite in any import store either do the way things work. Sure they might say they'll hold it for you, but there really isn't a pre-order system setup in Japan which actually very weird. Every store in Japan is telling people to line up to get their copy. I trust my import shop to get itself a copy 1 week after the initial release. I really really hope they pull through for me.
Note: I use to work at the import shop and i'm friends with the owner so he might help me out, but seeing that DS lite is going to be a HOT item in japan he might not have say over this. _________________ Go Gitaroo-Man, go fight the mighty piano ships with your mighty Guitar AXE!
