Who is the strongest shinobi in naruto?

The Yondaime was probably the strongest of all time as far as we know now. For now, I think it would be Jiraiya. Kisame and Itachi had him outnumbered 2 to 1 and they ran. Might have changed in Naruto II but the Naruto I encouter suggests Jiraiya. Hypothetically though, the leader of Akatsuki would be the strongest since he is the leader of a group of kage level nins. But we don't yet know enough to say for certain.

All time - Yondaime
Currently (with anecdotal evidence) - Jiraiya
Currently (theoretically) - Akatsuki leader

Eh, it's hard to say...
I'd have to say Jiraiya or Akatsuki leader. Then again, Itachi, never really seen him fight seriously. Of course Naruto will probably be stronger than all of them, it's called Naruto for a reason lol

Itachi said that even if he fought Jiraiya with his partner he will die right?
Orochimaru mentioned that he is unable to obtain Itachi;s Sharingan because he is stronger than him.
Jiraiya has never won a fight against Orochimaru right? Their last fight was when Jiraiya is poisoned by Tsunade and Orochimaru cant use his arms. But cleary, Jiraiya's reaction shows that he will be overcomed by Orochimaru...

Like rock-paper-scissors.. until i can figure them out, I'll say Yondaime or the Akatsuki Leader (forgot his name)

I think the akatsuki leader would be strong because... he's the leader I guess lol.

Speaking truthly i'd say the Akatsuki's leader. But saying it to favouritism strongest. It'd either be, Jiraya or Itachi.

I'm not exactly a huge fan of Itachi, but he seems to be very strong in the story.

I would have to say at this point in time it would have to be Hidan. His invinciblity, the whole death ritual thing is unstoppable. Ok so all you have to do is get him out of his circle, but the fact he does not die adds to his strength. At this point I really don't think there are that many characters that can defeate Hidan, but then again it is still a bit early to tell. So yes, at this point I would have to say Hidan is the strongest.

strongest shinobi ever, i would say the 4th. strongest right now, either itachi or more likly the leader of akatsuki (why would you work for someone weaker than you). jirayas a good candidate but he just nearly died from training naruto with multiple tails. naruto has the potential to be strongest of course, he only went 4 tails and his raw untrained power alone was a rough match for orochimaru. naruto going 9 tails(if that doesnt release the kyuubi) + control of that power definatly=mass ownage of everyone lol

this might be favortisim speaking but id say that neji is the strongest. mostly due ot his version of the unbeatable defence. but then garra has it and in the show, hinata gets her version too. hmmm.....apples oranges and banana's....which to chose?
