PS3 price

yo !

i read informations about the price. and the PS3 could cost between 300$ to 1000$ !!! can you imagine this ??? 1000$ !!! okay, techology is always expensive, but do you that much ???

in your opinion what will be the PS3 price ??? do you think sony will practice a high price like this ???

Well I don't really worry much about the price of the console, worry about the games!

$1000 is too much though, I doubt sony will release it for that much. Unless it is a package price for a special edition or something. Remember it has to compete with the Xbox360 and the Nintendo Revolution, so I'm guessing around $300-500.

I'm pretty sure it'll hit right at the 400-500 range. They have to include Blu-Ray drivers on all of those, so they tend to get quite costly. Actually I think that Nintendo is about the only company that can get close to breaking even for every system they sell.

it's true competition will an important factor.
and the blu ray is one of the more expensive part.

and like u said the games' price are still unknown. or if they are can someone give me an approximation ?

i think they will be also expensive... just seeing that teh best console's games are much expensive than any others... i don't know... with the power of the ps3, developers must do something oncredible... and that's of course it' gonna be expensive.... i've read taht PS3 would cost 500 bucks... an i think the games would be by 60 or 70 bucks... in the beggining at least.... Shocked

Considering BluRay drive will cost 1000+ $ (for the first year at least), I think we can expect an expensive PS3, of course, Sony would be crazy to market PS3 at that price point.

I heard rumors of a 399 $ system without the capacity to play BluRay movies, and 499 with hd BluRay. That sounds kind of do-able. They can't afford to price too far from the 360, so they might use the same tactic as MS and make two bundle : one cheaper and one more expensive.

Am I the only one surprised by the lack of news from Sony when they announced a Spring 06 launch ? I am currently expecting a delay for launch.

the controller won't be the same. but it looks very similar (same button at the same place). the little difference is a look a little more futuristic but in the same time very simple. i hope we could see a more inovative design, cool options for the gameplay.

I don't think anyone can guess at this stage, but i can tell you that the $1000 estimate was actually sum of prices of all components (or their expected price). It will never be that high. I'd expect something along the range of $500 at first release though, then maybe eventually stabilize at $400. (Not that it'd be more expensive than the 360, according an article I read (gamespy 360 guide) that you probably would not want to invest in the machine alone, but with some peripherals anyway.

Most likely around $500 give or take $100. The reason I say this is because over all I think that the PS3 has more to offer than the 360. It has better technology, and my most favorite thing is the uplink with the PSP. That will be kick ass.

I dont really mind paying US$1,000. As long as it wont be over my monthly allowance which is US$10,000.00.
