|
|
Hi hi, hope this is the best place for this thread. I think it's an original too, well, I hope anyway. This is the place to note your contributions to the anime industry. In other words, this is the place to stand in the spotlight and exercise your bragging rights.
What do I mean? Well, there are so many people that do so many wonderful things to help promote, distribute, discuss and/or just circulate anime throughout the world. Examples... working at a convention, working for an anime studio, voice-acting, belonging to a fansub group, writing/contributing to a magazine, working at a store that sells anime, writing/drawing your own manga, hosting convention panels/industry booths, moderating/webmastering another (or this) anime website.. anything!! So many people do their part and I'll bet a lot of you have something to contribute. This is an opportunity to share your experiences... and also to network, heehee.
I'll go first:
- I am the Assistant Director of Convention Operations for AnimeBoston 2006
- I had a letter published in Newtype-USA (April or May 2005, I forget which)
- I am a regular (or try to be) anime reviewer/synopsis writer for A-Source and a few other websites
Now your turn............. _________________

this seems like one of those alcoholics anonymous meetings. where i stand up and say my name and how long ive been without a drink =P
anyways,
-i work at an anime store, and i do a pretty thorough job of promoting.
if theres ever someone coming not sure of what to buy or what they like, i will spend anywhere from a few minutes to 20 minutes with them, talking and telling them about a particular anime, storyline, what i like, what i might think they like etc. it doesnt matter how much time i spend or if they buy it or not, what matters is i helped them. * pat myself on the back*
-i got my ex-school further into anime by running viewing sessions weekly at lunch times for free.
-ive worked at one convention since i started working.
-i buy the dvds, and lend them out to my friends, helping them get into anime and discover what they like.
-if theres something i cant answer at work, ill redirect the customer to a website (like AS) or others to help them find what they are looking for.
-if a friend is looking for something, i offer to find it for them. and if i do, i get it for them. and allow them to pay me back.
-every so often, i will buy something that i know someone will like, and give it to them free of charge.
thats what i do. and im somewhat proud of it. _________________ [img:567:138:151453bb6b]http://www.anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/wahagifsda.gif[/img:151453bb6b]

Humm, I didn't like to brag actually, but since you call 'bragging' is a human right, well hehehe, than I should do 'bragging' sometime, anyway.
Here's what I did to help spreading 'anime addiction':
1. I work as a freelance for a manga/comic studio in my country, and it already published several mangas.
2. Writing a review article for anime magazine in my country
3. Writing anime reviews for AnimeSource.com
4. Buying a lot of anime stuff
5. Held a talkshow about my friend's manga/comic as a promotion event
Well, there are more, I think, such as drawing fanpic, doing fanfic and else. As Logan always say: Try to do the best at what I do |

Well, I am just a fan. I would hardly be able to do anything that you can do, at least right now I can't.
Well, first and formost, I am a fan. I buy Newtype USA all the time, and I buy legit anime DVDs, and I buy manga all the time, my colection is big, and getting bigger.
I do plan on opening or joining an anime club here in Chicago once I find the time.
I also try to write reviews for A-source. |

In highschool i had a bunch of english subtitled Dragin Ball Z movies almost all 13. A man's gotta hustle Anyways i used to sell them to others anime fans so i guess i contributed that way. Y'know I'm a really big fan of anime but I've never been able to score a job in a store that sell anime stuff. |

I contribute in the following manner:
I read scanlated manga so that publishers know which titles should be licensed and brought over to North America.
I watched subbed anime so that companies like Funi know what will make them money.
That's my contribution (yup, yup ) |

ok.. same for me, i download and watch the SUBBED anime.
BUT!!
whenever the original DVD is available where im staying, i'll buy it.
i DONT distribute the downloaded anime illigally.
i URGE my friends to buy the DVD if they can afford it.
and i support the machandise that are released, eg: models, figurines.
Thats my contribution! :X |

Well I dunno if it gives me bragging rights but I watch and read scanlated and subbed anime/manga online all the time and when i can afford it I order dvds and mangas online, cuz where I livetheres an extreme limitied anime/manga source, well we had a few volumes of fullmetal Alchemist dvd recently but..and out of the ppl that live in my town I did my job in converting 120 of my friends. It's annoying how everyone else here looks down on anime but yehhopefully after I graduate I can find a job at a convention or a store somewhere and work on my art more cause at the moment i still can't do most movements, backgrounds and some facial expression -_- anyway thats all I've got to say . _________________ [IMG:307:150:db2386d3ac]http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n162/Slayn_wilder_2006/sweetestgifeverpw1.gif[/img:db2386d3ac]

I bought an anime DVD boxset ... and lend it to my friend ... that is all ...
Oh! And bought two figurines~ My Meer and Stella from GSD. And I have two gunplas, 1/144 non-poseable Freedom and 1/144 HG Strike Noir. And theres that little Gouf-Custom I got from a vending machine.
Adding all that up I supported bandai by ... just a tiny bit over $100 Canadian dollar~ _________________

okay, people need to read the first post. This isn't a thread about what anime merch you've bought (we have threads for that stuff in the Merchandise Section).
This thread is for people who actually WORK in the anime-realm:
- sell DVDs at work (even if it's like Best Buy or Suncoast)
- have their own website
- work at a convention
- work at an anime studio
... stuff like that
kiba_inu's got the idea _________________
