I watched REC 7 by Anime-United, and the subbing is atrocious. Seriously, do we really need an explanatory note to tell us that he's saying "Ha!" the snack rather than laughing? Or the HUGE note:
"Err, it said "Mixed bathing from 10 o'clock". (I don't know what else to choose. Basically, from 10 o'clock onwards, both men and women can use the baths. This system was created not so that men can spy on women and jack off, but for families that want to go in together.)
Ugh. Talk about unprofessional. Hurry up Lunar-Anime. |
Again, this is why it is pulled. On behalf of Anime-united, apologies for having you watching that. One staff have just decided that releasing it first makes it so much more important then doing a good job of it. >_> Those notes were translator's notes for the editors.
And yes, we too, are about as pissed as you are watching that.

| wow chill guys =p i'm not that fond of au too but hey they do it for fun and it's free so we shouldn't be complaining that they aren't that professional. if you don't like au just wait for ayu or lunar ( i already gave up on waiting =p i'll just dl their version when it comes) and i guess they were just trying to be 'funny' lol |

Oh I'm not as annoyed as I sounded. It's not like I closed the media player in disgust or anything, I just hadn't seen those kind of unnecessary explanatory notes in a fansub before (I think I missed episode 4). I could watch it fine. I just wouldn't keep it. :-p _________________

Oh, the reason why Lunar/Ayu/EnA is slower is because they wait for the widescreen raws which airs much much later. AU just takes RAW when they are available. |

they'll release it when they're ready lol
besides, i'd rather see them do a good job than rush it and have it all half-assed. _________________ Shepherd the lost sheep

Anime United seemed to have stopped subbing the REC episodes. The last episode has already aired in Japan. However, since Ayu waits for the widescreen RAW, they are usually a week late.
It doesn't matter though because Ayu just put Episode 8! REC's story has progressed quite rapidly. It's amazing how much you can fit in 10 minute segments. If this thing gets licensed, I hope it all ends up on one DVD (with special features and whatnot). To split this into two or three DVDs would be extortion.
Anyways, on the Episode 8:
Tsk tsk tsk. I wag my finger at Aka. She's the one that suggested the dinner and she pretty much just shot that down. Circumstances aside, Aka didn't seem like the person to go back on her word. Poor Matsumaru. I love how the rain seemed to be pouring on him wherever he walked.
I happily await the conclusion of this short and sweet anime series. =) |

i too look foward to the end of this series, but only with a certain air of gloom, since there'll be no more REC after it lol. its amazing to see how attached i am to these characters, even when its only 10 mins per episode.
of course im hoping for a happy ending.... and even a possible 2nd season / ova / whatever to fill my need for REC
yay aka
btw, i personally thought that matsumaru was acting really immaturely. he should understand that aka's getting really busy, and should be happy for her... not snap at her even when she apologizes. hes making her choose between her work and him... and i hate people that do that. i lost a good bit of respect for him after this episode.

You have to understand his position though. He was actually happy that Aka was getting so much attention from the media and that her dream was coming true. He only got irked when Aka stood him up on a dinner that SHE invited him to. Being stood up is bad enough, but when the person who set up the whole thing decides not to show up, it just adds insult to injury. I admit Matsumaru could have handled it better but Aka should have called him before going to meet the director. Instead she took her sweet ass time after arriving at the resteraunt to call and cancel the dinner plans with Matsumaru. She is at fault just as much as Matsumaru.
It is sad that it will be ending, but I'm pretty satisfied with the presentation of this anime and, barring some catastrophically horrific ending, will be happy with just this hour and a half of anime. =) |
