problem 1, firewall maybe. Off it and try hosting again.
Problem 2, for port forwarding please use the search function to find a post relating to this. Its much faster and more information in that thread. _________________

What connection are you using? Cable or broadband? _________________

OK, sorry. Looks like the technical term is a bit different here in my region compared to yours.
If you are using cable, then you have no chance to host a game server since cable connection uses dynamic IP. That means everytime you restarted your modem, it will give you a brand new IP different from the previous IP that you get. That is why it is impossible to use cable connection to host game server unless you requested the ISP to make your connection produce a static IP and that is usually additional cost from your side.
As for broadband or so-called ADSL or DSL connection, this is usually the best for game servers since it has superior upload speed compared to cables. This is also recommended due to the fact that it is dedicated compared to shared network of cable. Since it is dedicated, you have the maximum capacity of the download and upload speed of the connection. If you are using cable, the speed is variant and dependent on how many people in your area is online at the same time. If there are a lot, then you may have a lousy upload and download speed, which in turn, can lag your game. _________________

i had the exact same problem with WC3, i dropped the firewall and it worked
i don't remember what port range it uses, so i can't tell you which ones to open
you'll either need to find that out, or just drop the whole firewall, while you are gaming _________________ [img:500:184:c0d8dc4eaa]http://kontek.net/LizardDude/ManagerSig20bacon.jpg[/img:c0d8dc4eaa] |
