lol... I actually have "impersonated" someone, Truey. I doubt you'd remember that, but you actually did talk to that persona of mine and got along farily well... My puzzle to you is: Who could that be? I don't actually recall revealing that identity.. although I could have...
Anyway, Answer 1 (Long time no see):
The relationship between these people may not necessarily be one in which they have to speak to each other. They may be corespondence or internet friends, for example. In which case it is also fairly easy for a third person to pose as one of them. Since they haven't talked due to the nature of the relationship, it is fairly natural that the voice wouldn't be recognized.
Quick logic 4:
Fog is made of ground-level clouds, to be flying through a clouds is exactly like being in dense fog. There is no difference. Basically he had a normal flight. The engines stopped without fuel at his destination, since you didn't say "they stopped mid-air without fuel". The airport is a perfectly legitimate place to run out of fuel.
Quick logic 5:
Well, you said that one of the coins is not a nickel, but you didn't say that any coin couldn't be a nickel. If I get a quarter and nickel I fulfill all the conditions, I have 30 cents and, certainly one of them is NOT a nickel, because it is a quarter.
Quick logic 6:
If it is full of holes!! You've removed matter for it, and so it would be a lot lighter than its original size

my guess would be that since they have been friends and more over ROOMMATES then they don't need a phone to talk before... and there are instances that how you sound in real life would be different from your phone voice... i myself have a different phone voice so that is why when they talked on the phone she didn't recognize the voice.. since it has been so long as well...
other than that if i take to account on the premise that they haven't talke to each other before.. meaning not at all then of course she wouldn't know the voice of her friend.. but then again.. how can they be friends if they didn't talk at all before..
oh and the phoneline might have static..

Lateral Thinking : Since there is no correlation betwen the rain and his wood use, Im thinking that maybe he saved the wood for the coldest day. The other days he found it tolerable, so he saved it for the emergency rainy day. Otherwise he could die from hypothermia or some other crazy sickness with water.
Brain Bender : No freakin idea.
Quick Logic #7 : Anyone can slide into a bottle. It didnt specifically say "into" as in "inside" of it, so he could have just slid into it normally while on his knees or something.
QL #8 : With two customers he gets double the profit. Of course he would want two instead of one customer.
