I see many manga that sort of falls under the radar even though they're so good--and it turns out that when I do ask about them, people do know, have read, and like them... why then aren't they ever in the topic?
(to reword this into one sentence: Why are all topics about Naruto?) |

| You figure because Naruto is easy to find, and easy to get into. Something that's more complicated and deep like 20th Century Boys, One Piece, or Berserk; you really need to read through volume loads to appreciate the story and the connectivity. |

Japan and North America are of different culture, and they have different standard. Showing a bit of boobs may consider to be ok in Japan, but in North America, that's a big no no, porns, or whatever. Same goes for violence as well.
The standards are different, so comes cencorship, to make sure the standards fit. |

| In the Us every thing is censored. From your phone calls to televsion to what you say at school. but they should just lay off. I like naruto myself but people should open up to differnt magas. Because there are lots of really good ones that are not being talked about at all. |

Another reason I guess is culture....
Many jokes can be lost in translation....I mean, Japan is big on word plays and jokes about native legends/urban legends....
A simple example is the nosebleeds....honistly, how many here no why they do that?
Look at Sgt Frog (keroro Gunso)...A very, very funny manga, but for some reasone....very neglected in the West......why?....because many of the jokes in it are about Jp culture/politics/pop culture/ play on words..... |
