I'm a pretty religios person myself, but my religion is pretty laid back. We don't go around telling people that is they don't join us they'll go to hell or something like that. In fact we believe in reincarnation and if you don't get it right this time you get more chances (though I'm not sure what will happen after everyone else messes up the Earth until it's uninhabitble).

Anyway yeah I'll be amoung the first to say that people will do some pretty screwed up things in the name of religion. While particularly odious I don't think the worst thing out there are poligamous pedophiles. The scariest thing to me are the seemingly normal asshats that think it's their God given mission to "make America a Christian nation like the founding fathers intended". Never mind that a good many of those guys that signed The Bill of Rights were actually Deists. Yet they still can't figure out that the constitution gives freedom to all religions not just Christian religions.

I'm not accusing all Christians of this type of behavior just a very vocal minority that toss around slogans and scrabble for political power (One leader, Pat Robertson, actually ran for president as a Republican, Jerry Falwell heads the Christian Coalition which lost it's non-taxable status because it was a political orginization instead of a religious one, and Geo. W Bush is said to owe his reelection to the Evangelicals (talk about religious people dealing with the Devil)). They don't just consentrate on the national level but also try to push forward their candidates on the local level for every office including school board elections (how better to push your agenda on the young minds). If moderate or liberal Christians (probably the only true Christians when you consider the fact that they are supposed to be following the teachings of a liberal Jewish Rabbi [i.e. Jesus]) are speaking up against these religious Nazi's bent on taking away our freedom (George W. Bush once said there should be a limit to freedom) I haven't heard it too often.

Yeah extreme Morman poligamous pedophiles are pretty bad but not the worst thing out there.

Cults are the end product of any religion.
By that time, people are addicted to them, and will go along with anything that labels itself doctrine in order to obey the tenets of their faith. You notice all of these groups which do outright wrong, but religion in America now does wrong camouflaged as right. Straight people banning homosexual people from marrying. Men barring women from having abortions. Because their religion preaches it, they think they have the right to make rules for demographic groups which don't include themselves.

Has anyone here heard of the Christian Exodus Movement? They're a cult with the political agenda of moving every fundamentalist they can to South Carolina in order to take over the state's government.
Good idea, I suppose, except that they'd probably keep getting blocked by national authorities.
But the idea that they're trying to start a theocracy bothers me. I've read The Scarlet Letter and The Crucible too many times to be ok with it.

I looked into that guys eyes, and I can tell you with certainty that he is definitely either possessed by a demon, or he has delved into satanism heavily, or both. But either way I have seen enough evil to know he is pure evi. Those eyes cannot be mistaken. Those are the eyes of a demon. I would be scared as hell of this guy if I met him.

Actually that guy looked like a wimp to me. You want to know REAL fear? Look at my wife! She is half Irish and half Cherokee and worships the Norse gods, plus she collects all kinds of blades. I've been told several times that I must be the bravest man in the world (but then not everyone has seen her plushie colection).

Pffft, I would have no problems at all staring that guy down. I might even scare him.

My favorite story about my wife is when we first started dating. We were going for a walk and I was telling her about how I had started learning martial arts at middle school age starting with karate and judo when she suddenly tried to get me in a hip throw she had learned from her dad who was a career marine NCO during WWII and Korea. I think she decided to marry me when I block her throw and revesed it to throw her.

I've seen her take on guys that were twice her size and I had to step in to save THEM.

Like I said, that guy looks like a wimp.

Obviously you have never encountered a demon..... there is much to fear from him. And its not the man its the demon that may be inside of him that scares me. I so wish I didnt see peoples auras and feel their spirits.... life would be so much simpler

No problem. I have no doubts I could beat that guy down physically, spiritually and probably mentally as well. The only ones I find scary are the guys that seem "normal" and have political power.

I got an e-mail the other day that the state of Missouri is planning on passing a Bill that will make Christianity the "Majority" religion thus protecting the rights of Christians over the rights of all other religions. Here is the link to the Bill: http://www.house.mo.gov/bills061/biltxt/intro/hcr0013i.htm

As a member of a minority religion myself this is just scary even though I live in Texas. Texas voted in a state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage even though there were already laws against it (I'm not against gay marriage even though I'm straight. I think gay people should have just as much right to be as miserable as the rest of us). I can easy see Texas following Missouri's example if they pass the Bill into Law and it passes constitutional challenges.

THAT's what I find scary.

As an Irish Celtic Pagan Priest approaching my second decade in that vocation (not my paying gig but in service to all), I've seen a THING or two. I still maintain it's the seemingly "normal" people that are scarier. In fact I look pretty normal. As for your spiritual sensitivity you should see someone who can teach you how to ground and center and shield yourself. There is nothing "occult" or mysterious about these simple mental skill sets. I read your post to my wife who is a Norse Priestess and she agrees with my advice. In fact though she has never read these forums and I've never talked to her about you before she was able to pick up the fact that you are female. Anyway, I didn't know I had problems in that area until I learned to do those things. It definately helped me focus more on my own life once I was no longe bombarded by everyone around me.
