Revamped FF VII

I've been hearing rumors about a remake of Final Fantasy 7 for Playstation 3, same story but new awesome graphics.

And I'm wondering if it's actually true, I've tried to find a reliable source to confirm the rumor but i can't find anything that actually states it. does anybody here know if it's true? I mean, it would be kick-ass if they actually made it, but I'm not going to get my hopes up before it's confirmed.

Not too sure myself, but according to IGN.com:

"Unfortunately for Final Fantasy fans all over the world, Square Enix President Yoichi Wada stated after the demo's airing that it was meant for display purposes only and was not proof of an actual remake of the original game."

I've heard this rumor for a while now. Originally, a few years ago, there were rumblings about remakes of FF VII and possibly FF VIII being released on the PS2 with new graphics. Now it seems the rumors point to a PS3 remake.

I think the best we'll get was that tech demo, which was the FF VII opening sequence redone with current technology. It was used at E3 to demonstrate the power of the new Playstation system.

My guess (and it's wild speculation here) is no to a FF VII remake. But the sequel movie, Advent Children, did well in Japan and should do the same here. So maybe one day we'll see a true sequel *crosses fingers*

That's too bad, it would've been awesome, I hope they do make it someday. but untill then i'l have to settle with the old game and the movie, and there's always FF XIII wich is soon to be released.

I wouldn't be suprised if they remade it due to the large fan base, but it will take some time to remake the game due to regaining the material from the original to make some new graphics and maybe change the style of gameplay a lil.

It's true 7 has a huge fan base but if they remade it people would expect all the others to be remade as well, like for me if they remade 7 id want them to remake 8 because I loved that game

But compared to Final Fantasy 8, I thought VII was kina....chibi. VII would probably need it more.

maybe, but maybe not. i mean look at the demo movie....id say thats very close to the AC movie graphics. think about it... whould they make more money useing the AC graphics and bring the game more to life? or just revamp it add a few new things and call it the "New" FF 7? but i agree with yah.....please Square Enix Hear my plea! Dont make Super Realistic Cloud for the Ps3 I know hes cool but i dont think i chould stand it for long! playing the redundent fight scences with that high detail whould make me feel like I'm watching a movie with no plot and only action! DONT DO IT!
