the point system is quite useful...
it limits the amount of members/guests that read the Mangas hosted on A-S...
less stress on the manga server....but not anymore
but since "new members" abused or spammed the forums to get points...they dropped it. thus making posts no points to the user^^.

well fisrt of all, there are no points awarded for posting in forums (not anymore), and you ARE already a member by having this account.
you earn points by submitting articles such as news and reviews.

well, points aren't used for much except manga access, which I don't really use myself anyway. But that aside, the problem before was people were posting like crazy as fast as possible for the sole purpose of getting points. It's hard to have meaningful and/or serious conversation with someone who's posting one-liners or spamming.
Some people were even going as far as just typing retarded stuff like "1" "2" "3" and "oh really" and "that's cool." Annoying as hell, ever since the point system changed, we've seen less of those kinds of posts.
Writing reviews and posting news won't hurt anyone. This is a community website and we all need to contribute. I got my points mostly through forum posts, but I still enjoyed writing the 20+ reviews that I have.

i have no qualms with the point system as of now..  well since i got enough points anyways to be able to read manga i don't really mind at all... and if ever they change the rules that would result in me losing points then i don't really mind that as well... il just go and get points some other way.. i just deal with it...

yeah, u can say that again fenix, theres not really much to do these days.
id like to write some reviews, but someone already beat me a synopsis of honey and clover. mine probably wouldve been more in depth.

well, nothing much to say about the point system. this is the first forum i've ever participated in, and i cant obviously compare it with other sites' systems. honestly, i only joined in the forums for the sake of getting points, for the sake to read the manga offered in the site. but after post after post, i eventually enjoyed posting more. i was surprised to see that they just dont talk about anime. and i met pretty interesting people. the points dont bother me anymore. i just type away.
although, there are some things faulty in the system. like the points needed to read the manga. well, some of the manga are kinda mature rated already. even if the kid's not spamming, he/she still has the chance of reading those mangas. i mean, that was basically the point in placing the point system in the manga, right?
anyway, thats the only fault i saw.

I believe the point system has been changed due to the fact that we had too many spammers, only coming here for the sake of manga. And with the recent instability of the manga server, there was a need to lower the pressure on the server. Less ways to get points = less people having points to read manga = less pressure on the server = the server not crashing all the time!
I think these are the 2 main reasons for the change in the point system, but I would need an admin to confirm me in this.

you can always submit a synopsis for it anyway. And I'll enter it as an alternative synopsis if it's better than the one we currently have. You'll still receive points (: Besides, we can't always rely on the synopsis we have in the database, sometimes, they're just not very good... |

Well I think that the new system will show who is really commited to the community. Because there are no more points awarded to people who post that means that less people will spam in order to get points and now posts are written for the sake of posting.
Of course, I only say this because I already have enough points to read the manga xDD
