I think noir had some of the best gun fighting scenes Ive seen. Like in the first episode when kirika takes that agents tie and flips off of the building, breaking the guys neck and then coviently landing on the floor below before shooting two others.

As far as martial arts i would say Air Master the moves in that anime were unmatched by any other anime Ive seen to date. As a runner up i would choose Grappler Baki the TV version the fights in that were kool as well

hmm, I would have to say the fight between takanayagi and the main character (not sure why I dun remember his name atm) in Tenjho Tenge, especially Takanayagi's little air kick move. runner up is Rozen Maiden Traumend's final fight scene; nothing beats gothic dolls duking it out >.< lol.

I woudl say FF:AC but considering theproduction budget difference, it isn't really in teh same "league" so to speak, though there are proabbly anime's out there that beat AC. I'm not exactly a hardcore action anime fan so yah, limited archive to choose from; perhaps I'll check out air master Wink

agrred, Noir has some style

Mai-HiME has some of the best-mixed weapons fights. Even the first episode when Natsuki and Mikoto fight is beautiful... especially when Mikoto breaks the truck in half and the cut mark lands inches above Mai's head. The battles just get more and more dramatic and emotional once everyone realizes what's at stake.

The best in my opinion are the fight scenes from Hajime no Ippo. It's a boxing anime, so the entire show focuses heavily on the fighting. The action is very intense and the realism is much higher than many other fighting animes. Not to mention they devote entire episodes to fighting instead of short scenes.

Hmm the Sasuke vs. Naruto fight encompassing episode 133 was amazing, IMO. The the quality of the character designs went down, but the battle sequences were extremely fast paced, unique and varied. The fight between Yashamaru and the spiderguy in the first episode of Basilisk was also really fluid, and it had better animation... but the moves weren't as cool.

The first episodes of Samurai Champloo (Jin vs. Mugen) and GSD (Shinn vs. Druggies) also had quite memorable battle scenes.

The FF: AC fights were awesome... but yeah, I guess they can't be considered to be in the same league due to the much larger budget.

For animation and moves I would say Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid (or Fumoffu) cause it's really fluid, and if they were somehow extended (probably impossible cause they're so darn good) then it would be awesome.

As for overall awesomeness I'd have to say Naruto. Some of the fights were surprisingly good and moving, despite how much the series has deteriorated. Some notable ones were certain scenes of Sarutobi (Third Hokage) vs. Orochimaru and First and Second Hokage, Rock Lee vs. Gaara in the Chuunin exam, Kyuubi Naruto vs. Cursed Seal Sasuke, Kimimaru (sp?) vs. Rock Lee, and possibly the upcoming manga fights will rock.

GunGrave has some good ones, but it's just gun shooting.

Well I can't really think of that many that stick out, because a lot of the anime fighting is repetitive, not really memorable, or just from comic violence.

Tenjou Tenge have some amazing battles. Other battles I liked:

Noir.
X-tv
Fate stay night (When Saber meets Assassin and the fight against Rider in epi 11)
Bleach (the fight against that captain with the eye-patch was really good)
Evangalion

The fight between Ichigo and Kuchiki Byakuya was badass. Ichigo releases his bankai and fights against Byakuya's bankai... ahhh good times.

Recca-Mikagami vs Neon-Miki in Flame of Recca, after being slapped by Domon into senses. Both Recca and Mikagami fought a tactical battle. They knocked out-cold Miki and avoided Neon attacks.

Possessed Yusuke vs Offensive Armor Sensui in Yu Yu Hakusho. The possessed Yusuke beat the hell out of Sensui. This is the part where the War God of Makai, Raizen, showcased his powers as a Mazoku.

Kenshin's battle with five members of the Shinsen-Gumi in RK: Tsuiokuhen. He is so skillful that those 5 well-trained members are killed by Kenshin without a scratch.

Rock Lee vs. Kimimaro - the part where Lee fought Kimimaro using Suiken.

Naruto vs. Neji - The Kyuubi powered Naruto is awesome.

The A-S battles in the Full Metal Panic series. The Arbalest is such a cool and powerful Arm-Slave. Special mention to Lt. Grouseax's M9 in the Second Raid. The Codarls and Shadows beat the hell out of Mithril's M9s.

The Wing Zero vs Epyon battles in Gundam Wing. Both battles showcased the power of the mobile suits and the skills of the pilots. Also Wing Zero and Epyon battles against other mobile suits.

Escaflowne - Alseides battle in Tenkyuu no Escaflowne. After Van learned how to detect invisibility from Hitomi, he used it to great effect to destroy's Dilandau's Alseides while in it's invisible form.
