Old games on xp

I just recently found my old Z game (from 1996), yesterday actually - my big brother had taken it ;_;

Well, I tried installing it on my Win xp home edition comp (3 times in fact), but couldn't get it to work. It crashes after the first advertisement - going straight back to Windows. Have tried the usual; running in win 95 mode and 256 colours and so on, but doesn't work. Was thinking of using dosbox but it works like crap on my comp, lagging everything even the old constructor.

Any ideas on how to get it to work??

*EDIT* Maybe I wasn't clear; the game is installed, but the problem is when trying to play the game.

I also experienced before also and i know why cannot work on xp because some game from 1996 or 1997 something can't play on window xp because it is uncompartible.so give up playing old z game.

Have you tried changing the windows compatibility mode for the game? If not, follow these simple instructions.

1. Locate the shortcut for the game.
2. Right click the shortcut and click properties
3. When the properties screen comes up, click on the "Compatibility" tab at the top of the window.
4. Click the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
5. Select the operating system the game was designed for (Windows 98 works for most)
6. After you've selected the operating system, click "Apply" at the bottom of the window.
7. Start the game up. If it works, Enjoy. If not Step 8.
8. If the game didn't load, repeat steps 5-7 with a different operating system until you find the one that works for you.
