anybody play super smash brothers melee?
quite possibly the most well rounded mass (4 player) fighting game out there right now. They got tourneys all over the place and they got all the characters you love like link, pikachu, and even yoshi.

Hasnt that game been out for a while now? I like all the new characters and stuff but the game is too fast for me. I like the original better. But yeah i dont think theres a better 4 player fighting. I dont think ive ever even seen one.
the game has been out for like 3 years now, but even now i'm learning new tricks and stuff. if you watch videos from tournaments, man, they're like professionals or something. i liked the old smash brothers as well, but it seemed really limited in it's play. the new one is definitely faster, as well as more evenly matched character-wise. i'm lookin to improve my play, so if anybody has any good strategies....

Smash Brothers is hands down the best 4 player game out there. I personally like the N64 version better but, we need to move on with technology so I "up-grade" to Melee. It is still very good, and the game is so much faster. Down side is that you can't do cheap tricks in Melee (ie throw ppl off stage and down kick). Still have loads of fun with friends... a classic.
Stretegies?? I guess it depends on who your character is. Every character have their pros and cons.
btw, who is your main character?? I always play with Pikachu just because he is fast and can teleport. But I guess his moves best match my playing style... aggresive and evassive
I played super smash brothers on the n64 but not the new 1 yet. I like Kirby because he's light and fast and Mario because he can jump high and is agile.
pikachu and kirby were great characters for the n64 version. I personally use link for both versions. He's the most versatile i think, and probably the hardest to learn. If anything, i think he's the biggest underdog in the game (after bowser and maybe luigi that is). He's not particularly fast, not that strong, but damn, he's got 3 freakin projectiles, that's hot!
i started using pikachu too, now that's a fun character. I don't know... any strategies. What do you see players do most often? Most people i know use sheik, a supposed top tier (the best?) character in the game.
Ahhhhh, yes SSBM =D......the only gamecube game I have pretty much xD. Great game to play on multiplayer specially if you have 3 other siblings you've been dying to beat down....O_o *eye twitch* ^__~"
But trully, this game is great to play with 4 people. It's like being in the arcades with friends again exept at home ^^.
When it comes to SSBM, there are 2 characters I use the most..... and both are females..... Samus Aran and Zelda/Sheik.
Samus is pretty much my favorite when it comes to having the projectiles and power and speed I need and like. Specially if you set up the charge beam perfectly. She's got a great grab with her grappling hook. Bombs do wonder when falling. Her screw attack drags foes along with her. The missiles if alternated properly can be almost cheese and she's pretty much the all around melee character for me.
Zelda I like to use if I've damaged the opponent enough with Sheik which I use do to her tremendous speed and nice moves which can easily set up combos and keep foes juggling in the air. I've got to love those chains she has against most opponents who like to hide and the whole teleportation is awesome. Not to mention if you are playing against someone like mew2 or samus who like to charge up some power or that damn annoying gun, just switch to Zelda and they'll hesitate to fire since you can deflect the shot back right at 'em. Course most of the time, they won't use it and I'll be able to take care of them that way =D
I'm pretty much like ZioComposite (without 3 siblings XD). it's one of the only games I have for the GC besides Soul Calibur and Wind Waker.
Samus is so annoying because she's just slow enough, if you get my drift. Plus if you use her bombs in the air it messes up opponents' timing.
Sheik is a fast bunch of chains... then it's fun to use Zelda because she's like Samus (but when you get hit, you get sent flying, hehe). But if you're going against an opponent that has a huge amount of insight and nearly-perfect timing (my best friend), then they can blast you out with Samus/Mewtwo/etc.
Oh wait.... there's also Yoshi XD. I can hit a lot of things with those egg bombs. Too bad he's kinda suicidal.
Kirby was good on the N64 version, beating up everyone with that one throw =D. He's okay here, with his hammer... and... sucking people up, going down, spitting them out and killing them, and puffing back up. Ah yes, fun with Kirby.
I play with Super Smash Brothers Melee with my three brothers almost once every two days. xD My favorite character to use is Zelda/Sheik. Sheik is just as fast I want my character to be and Zelda is perfect for spells...well for me anyway. I use Sheik to keep my opponents in the air and whatnot.
this game won the Most Favorite Party Game of All Time among me and my friends, its basically all we play when we get together.
as a whole, i think my friends and i are all pretty good players and each with our own characters. favorites are fox/falco, zelda/shiek, mine is luigi, and just recently, my brother and three other friends learned to use jigglypuff's double edge to a frightenly good extent. they use is as both a offensive and defensive move, and its ability to kill even at 0% scares most everybody now ^^;;.
as i said, i mainly use luigi. the original intent was actually just a joke, since most people beleived him to be a bit of a gimp in the beginning. his aerial moves have some of the longest distance and the occasionally exploding torpedo has saved me so many times. most fave moves are his aerial side smash and aerial down smash, which does excellent damage, throws a good distance, and spikes too boot. once in awhile, ill indulge and smack people silly with his flaming uppercut, instagib at around 70%. _________________

yeah, lugi is far from bad, but he does have a kinda high learning curve since alot of his high game techniques rely on the wave dash which is really hard for some people to do... but once you see a lugi with perfect control over his wave dash he is easily a contender
really one of the best features about this game is that even though some characters DO have advantages, with enough work any character can atleast compete (anyone ever seen decadent ones bowser? never belived a bowser could do anything until i saw him play), and that puts its balance alot better then some fighters and the degree of freedom really makes this a great game
