i really dont think anime is equivlient to cartoons
anime has real stories and most have plots that develope over the continuing amount of eppisodes and "cartoons" (like on saturday mornings in america" are in my oppion plain stupid. A cartoon is usually a caricature, filled with nonsense. Rarely is there a storyline. Anime is far more than that (well, usually). Some north american animation is rising above it's cartoon heritage, but shows like Futurama or the Simpsons reflect their base history as glorified sit-coms. Take Avatar: The Last Airbender on Nickolodeon, here we have a storyline, and (for the most part) it is being told in a manner to catch one's attention.
..for me they are the same...Anime it the Japanese word for cartoon..so as the manga that is a japanese term for comics....for me anime is an animated comics.. _________________ ..neVer be deCeivEd by what you See and heaR...

geeze people, I don't know why people argue about this kind of silly issue. However, just for the record, I think that anime and cartoon is same except that anime is from Japan. They are like brothers and sisters. They have similar traits and humor and violence and unreal situations. The only different that i found was taht the anime is more violent and more perverted.... anything that I missed?

I wouldn't say it's perverted either... well depending... anyway, to me, anime is more like a animation of real-life. It's just really detailed, especially with character design. When people look over my shoulder and see girls with heaving cleavage and sexy legs, they think it's sick that a "cartoon-character" would look like that. Ya but sometimes animes show things that would have 100% chance of not happening in real life.
