Well, don't know where I should put this thread lol. bt thought it appropriate here, besides the "Anime General/Free for All"
Anyways, yea I have been thinking about this lately and I've noticed taht what I have been doing was just merely drawing. i have lost my goal. Now I have remembered why I started drawing in the first place. It was because I saw anime pics from some of the more Mature animes. And after thinking about it for a while, I realized thta I wasn't drawing because I always drew, but because I wanted to draw beautiful girls with more mature topics, not neccesarily hentai though.
so now i'm curious as to why all you fellow anime artists draw, please let us hear your reasoning

I'm the other way around. I've always loved doing art in general. Paintings, sculptures, all the different mediums. I liked the style of anime and gave it a shot as well.

My reason for drawing anime is basically because i enjoy drawing. I love the feeling of creating something from nothing basically. It's probably also because i want to draw like the people who make anime that is loved by so many people.
More like, I like drawing weird demented things lol. My other goal is because I want to make my own RPG game, so the characters just happen to look anime-ish. I practice other kinds of art too, but the manga style is the more interesting ones i've seen lol.
I see. So am I the only one here with weird ideas? lol
The fact that I have been drawing since forever is true, and I do draw a lot of different things. But My main reason for why I started drawing anime was again, because of the beautiful anime girls. I was captured at the moment I laid my eyes upon my friends' japanese magazines. I still have those pictures in my head. And I have found a majority of the anime.
I am still far from satisfying myself. My skill is no where near what I want it to be. For such a long time I had been drawing for no reason and didn't know why I even contiuned to draw anime.
The art of Anime has and probably always will hold me captive. It is the main art form I like. And I only like it because the girls are cute and drawn in such perspective and tastes that its just....amazing lol. can't even word it.
Well, I think I'm going to start drawing once more, its been a rather long while since I last drew, and an even longer time since I've drawn with a purpose and understanding of why I am drawing. I want to perfect the art of anime woman. (in my own way)
Let us hear some more from the other artists. I truly do wish to know why our reason for drawing is.

my drawing hands will never go back to the old days when i can pretty much do a decent drawing of an anime character... well that is if i have somthing to copy from..
basicaly i just did drawing to see how well i can copy an image from a card or a cover to a plain white paper... pretty decent then.. not anymore now.. been like years since i used my hands to draw stuff.. hahaha.. don't know if i still have the whim to go back though.. _________________
I draw because i love drawing and i love the characters i draw.
Anime style is the one who captivated my heart since the first one anime i saw: Sakura Card Captor. This style is also the one who i find more appropiated to narrate my own history im working right now.
I also think anime faces had the best balance between expression and beauty.
My quota of crazyness is about the characters' personality and is not related to the style of my drawing. _________________ You know Lunn.. i love you so (http://toack.deviantart.com)

Well. I draw anime for many reasons.....
Well, first off I was captivated by anime by, as with many ppl, DBZ, then got more and more into it... I made stories up in my head, and acted them out, seeing how things would work..... But, I never thought I could at all draw anime..... I actually took a 1 and a half year Hiatus from drawing in general..... My stories still cookin' up there in my noggin.... Then, about 4-5 months back, I tried to draw Sephiroth..... and I thought I did well... (I didnt tho.... not at all... looking back on the drawing, it sucked compared to what I do now, which still isnt that good....) Neways, I THOUGHT I did well, and got more into it, trying to draw the anime style, and completely failing at it.... which, of course, I didn't see that I was.... Neways, I looked into a book called "How to draw manga", and well, I copied some of the faces, the eyes, and all the rest of that kind of stuff..... This was about 2 months back..... I think I improved dramatically in these 4-5 months, butstill have a long ways to go.....
Now getting back to topic.... I draw in the anime style because A. I love Drawing, B. I love anime, manga, and japan, and C. Because I have a story I want to get out, and it comes out best in anime/manga form.... _________________ [IMG:350:204:b5e314c893]http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e42/xX_ZIGGY_Xx/milk.gif[/img:b5e314c893]
It is statistically impossible for you to exist. Thus, you, and everything around you are figments of your imagination.
my goal (which i dont really work on..) is to draw short story mangas. like those ones with deep plots. I was inspired by those episodal anime (ie.Bebop), anime OVAs/movies, and DC/Marvel comics/shows... especially Batman lol _________________ GG

why i draw, hmmm, i think it started when im still a small child. My father has talent in drawing, and ive always watch him draw, he didnt took architecture or fine arts course in college though. Thats when it all started, whenever i was able to grab a paper (a book, scrap paper, anything i can draw on),i would draw away, mostly stuff that i only saw on tv and picture books (i get scolded for drawing on important documents though lol).
This continued until i saw some anime's such as Voltes V, Daimos, Astroboy and most specially Dragon Ball/Z, the first anime titles ive watched. I would always watch it (DBZ) and tried to remember what the characters look like and tried to draw them, until my hands get numb (Vegita being the favorite). DBZ drawing style is still the base style of my drawings up to now (as seen on my posts), only that it "evolved" because of other anime titles that ive seen. Also, like other artists, drawing is the way i express myself, i mostly just sketch faces to show some emotions (and somehow, anime style faces imo are quite expressive in their own ways).
It was a Yu Yu Hakusho pic (from a play card actually) of Yusuke. All I've ever drawn before were perspectives, landscapes, and lots of weapons, which I've termed 'very cool'. Haha~
And then my cousin liked what I drew (maybe because he requested it), and asked for more. I had fun, and drew even more he requested. Drew a lot more for my classmates, and drew infinitely for myself (during boring class hours).
Then, the rest was history. _________________ EX-mod
i guess to feel good about myself,If I can draw as good as the pro's I guess I can die happily, plus i'm trying to do a doujinshi,I've been thinking about doing it for a long timei guess I will start my work between june and july once I get my story's workout
I started drawing for no apparent reason at all.
I still don't know why I did it but one day I sat down and drew Flonne from Disgaea and it turned out pretty well.
And from there I started drawing freehand stuff because I didn't want to be one of those who doesn't draw his own art.
So I read alot of guides and tutorials on the internet and posted all of my pictures on the internet to get critics.
And that worked pretty well for me, I've made ALOT of progress since I started drawing.
But I still need to work on drawing characters in diffrent perspectives, fore-shortening and basically getting the characters bodies to look better.
And for some reason unbeknownst to man I almost exclusivley draw girls
