Yakitate!!! Japan Synopsis and Reviews on Anime-Source
The clash of swords, men screaming, men dying, the sound of dropping arrows...thus is the opening. This will probably make you think this anime series is happening in medieval times, but no... its actually about a boy with a great dream! Azuma Kazuma is a teenage boy who has carried on the dream of his baker friend of making a bread so good that it would represent Japan! Thus his bread will be named Ja-pan! Thanks to his baker friend he learned about the making of bread but the big revelation was that he had special hands named Solar Hands that could warm and ferment bread as he touches them. With his great hands, he must now go to Tokyo and battle it out with 34 other people to work at the greatest bakery in Japan: PantasiA!
Here's a more official synopsis from AnimeNfo:
Azuma Kazuma is a young bakery worker. He has a dream that he will make Japanese bread, “Ja-pan”, which will be better than any other bread in Japan. He has ‘palms of sun”, which are much warmer palms than those of normal people, and they are useful for making bread. With his “palms of sun” and creative ideas, he will beat rivals who will appear one after another.
From the beginning of the first episode I was thinking that I got the wrong anime because I thought it would be about boy and bread because of the war scene but I was wrong! I was thinking it would be a mega serious anime, but it contains a lot of humour and comedy within scenes and dialogue! With a great cast of humourous characters, this series looks really promising and I already can't wait to see the next episode! If your thinking this anime sucks cause its about bread you should hit yourself in the head and download it because trust me, you'll really like it! Your mouth will be full of laughter and hunger by the end hehehe... After watching it, I found myself eating bread xD.
Oh yeah...
At the end... their is of course a preview of next ep. and also their is a little quiz! LEt's see if you were paying attention eh....

True, the manga is better.
Episode 1 was slightly uninspired to me. Maybe I had too high expectations in the first place.
Anyway, the official site had mentioned that the mangaka had closely worked with them and was very happy with the results. So I shall follow still for a while ( 46 episodes according to Moonphase, I wonder which chapter will they stop at - current manga chapter is 132 ) |

The first episode was ok, nothing too exciting or funny so far... Still it's better than the average show, so I'll pick it up and see if it improves.
The OP and ED are very bland btw. I could barely stand watching them once. |

based on the popularity this show has garnered, I've decided that I will make a manga/anime... where a bunch of high school girls take upon the exciting task of watching grass grow, in an attempt to find the greatest.... grass.
Ok, I'ma say this now... I enjoyed the first episode and I think the show will be funny... but! for all of those people who seem to want to tote this around as one of the greatest things created this year (I've run into several now)... you do need to acknowledge that the entire premise of the show is BREAD!
BREAD! You have a duty as a human being to be willing to make fun of yourself for enjoying an anime about MAKING BREAD! Just as I make fun of myself now. _________________ You can't hold no groove if you ain't got no pocket. |

They've also got to have special 'water eyes' so they can watch grass grow better than anyone |

Thank you to Jobye for providing us with a synopsis.
With the characters they had in the manga, I don't plan to be watching this anime... heh. The manga is alright but hasn't been spectacular yet.
The only thing that was funny was the part where the guy accidently spits the egg whites on that girl's face. lol. |

I don't know if it's because I've had a couple of beers but I loved episode 2. This show could be great if it keeps going like this! |

Trivia:
Did you know that yeast is used to ferment beer just as it is used to make flour rise???
Now you know! |

Actually I do Though what you said gives me an idea about making a show in which a bunch of Japanese high school students decide to brew the best Japanese beer |

LOL... Now there's a show that would interest me. I have to admit though, that despite the seemingly boring topic, the first couple of episodes were fun enough to add this to my viewing list. I feel so inspired that I want to run home and dust off the automatic bread maker! _________________ [IMG:119:90:283352dc7f]http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e36/Tank252ca/HoiHoiSanPointing.gif[/img:283352dc7f]Tank252ca |
