Ugh... I was a bit wary of the poster then but these screencap seem to confirm what I fear...
They took Souichirou 宗一郎 and beat him with an ugly stick real bad...
Actually his Dark Dragon(sp?) mode transforms him into a more than handsome guy, kinda like Kyo Kusanagi.
But the other characters look good so far (ahhh, Maya and Aya)
The second screencap seems to indicate bad art. Face all weird and scrunched up. Hopefully it is only a fleeting moment and not indicative of the whole lot.
Just hoping that it is not a bad adaptation. (Oii Kaiser where you get this preview?) |

| I have a feeling that this is just going to be another Ikkitousen. The manga itself isn't near completion, and the storyline is too convoluted for it to be a mainstream anime success, unless they cut out massive portions of it (mainly the flashback arc). So... Ikkitousen 2 it is. |

K.... Just saw the first episode... Actually it's following the manga pretty well, though I think people who have never read the manga might get a bit lost since it moves fairly quickly (ending at the end of Chapter 2). Of course, there are some changes, bits added here and there, the nudity pretty much removed/clouded over, and the character design is altered a bit too.
Anyway, Souichirou Hoshi did better than I thought he would on Souichirou Nagi, since I've been used to hearing his goody-too-shoe voice as Kira Yamato and Kaoru Hanabishi... And the fights are nicely animated. So not a bad start at all. The OP is a bit wack though, and the fact that the main producer of this series is Geneon USA might make fansubbing this series a bit hard. |

Well... downloading the raw now. l33t always has a good rep I think.
I'm pretty sure the Eastern hemisphere would have fansubs turning up soon. And I'm pretty sure the Western hemisphere would have some fansubber that would not bother with licensing laws. It is just a matter of you spending some effort digging them up and getting access to their materials.
Screencaps are up at http://wgalland.hp.infoseek.co.jp/200404a.htm for those who want a peek to decide if it might be worth seeing episode 1. But like a typical male (as are most of us ), he decided to make most of the fanservice shots. (Well... Volume 1 of the manga was pretty much ecchi half the time heh...)

Well it wouldn't matter to me much... I know pretty much everything that's said anyway since this is following the anime pretty closely in terms of dialogue so I don't need the fansub (yet). And even if they shut down every BT site with the Tenten anime on it I can still get it off Winny or something.
But anyway, I don't think Geneon has a history of threatening lawsuits and telling fansubbers to stop (which is why A-S's joke didn't work for me ), but seeing as how this series seem to almost be produced solely by Geneon (the executive producer is a Geneon USA employee), they might value it more... Who knows. |

Nah, unlike certain other anime, the fanservice is a bonus, not the focus... |

Just watched episode 1 and it seems to be a quite faithful reproduction of the manga's first 2 Fights (how they call chapters/acts) as darkhunger has already said.
You will notice the animation is different from what you usually expect. Well... if you read the credits, you will know that the entire animation staff is Korean. Other production (sound/production/acting) is handled by Japanese. So its a Korean anime marketed/produced by Japanese I guess.
And personally I think they are going to try to broadcast it in America since they have romaji of the character's names in the OP. Not a common sight.
If the anime follows the manga's story, then it would be excellent! On the other hand, we have to consider that its at least a year since Vol 10 was published... and this anime has to be shown weekly... Hopefully they will stick with the manga and conclude it at an appropriate point with another season to follow. The worst we can expect would be to adapt it to become an Ikkitousen.
Judging from the preview of episode 2, there seems to be some adaptation done. Reasons below (comparison with manga)
For the anime, they seem to be moving straight into Souichiro's background & history. For the manga, they would be dealing with the rape of Bob's girlfriend. Maybe they plan to cut out the more "disturbing" elements or just a chronological adaptation? We shall see...

Well, according to Natsume Maya (the site, not the character), Chieko's seiyuu reportedly tolf fans of the manga to
"look forward" to a certain scene... It's assumed that she's implying the rape scene. But judging from how the nudity is removed in Ep 1 I think they are probably going to severely remove most of it...
And I wouldn't call this a Korean production. Madhouse is the animation studio, and nowadays frequently the animation studio does some of the overall main work in Japan (like the overall art design and the animation checking) and let their affiliates in smaller animation houses to do the bulk of the work, so this happens to a lot of anime, most notably some of the longer, more expensive shows (like Gundam SEED which had episodes animated in Korea and even Shanghai, China), and many of GONZO's shows (since their animation studio specializes in 3D graphics and is not really 2D oriented). This is definitely a Japanese production, though the production is heavily involved internationally. |

Where would we be without Dr. Movie?
As for the names, that could jsut very well be to make it easier for the DVD release as well. If Genon USA has their hands in it then why not try to get the company to simply add the romanji in there to make it easy on everyone.
That and then there is always the Japanese and their crazy thing about how "cool" English is... :P |

| Well, I think the Romaji are just there for artistic reason. The whole OP has the whole western hip hop feel to it, especially the part where the names are being shown... So I don't think Kanji names would fit well with the mood anyway. |

The licensing has not been announce, but the fact that this show is a Geneon USA/avex production might right a bell.
BTW, yup, this show's animation is indeed a Dr. Movie (Korean animation studio) co-production with Madhouse. Then again a lot of shows are Dr. Movie co-productions, since they've worked on shows and movies like Beyblade, Spirited Away, Final Fantasy Unlimited, and most importantly, just about ALL of Madhouse's anime series between 1991 and 2000 (since they signed an exclusive contract with Madhouse back then). So I wouldn't call this a "Korean anime" or anything like that at all, because this is definitely a Japanese production with some assistance from Dr. Movie. |
