wow...at first i thought it was a totally random anime, but now i see it has a semi-plot. and kyon totally makes this series; he's the little bit of realism to set off haruhi's crazy. but hes sort of a push-over
man i love both OP and ED for this... if only i knew how to make animated GIF files, i'd be all up onz that

| I don't think he's a push over. I just think that he can't be bothered one way or another, as he externalizes Haruhi. He sounds very melancholic, so I don't think that the title is really about her, but her as he sees her, as a normal person would see her. |

This show is brilliant!
A couple more funny points from the student film I haven't seen mentioned yet:
- When Mikuru says that she has to go to the butcher's and starts running across town getting more tired in each shot, she's actually running in front of the same couple store fronts repeatedly so they don't have to move the camera (reminds me of Homer Simpson being told about cheap companies reusing animation, as they walk past the same janitor background three times)
- The zooms are jerky like someone is twisting the zoom wheel by hand on a cheap camera instead of setting the zoom stops and speed on a real production camera. (same with the pans) and the depth-of-field is wrong, from not having the right camera lens that can get the proper depth at the distance they chose. (stepping back for a minute into our real world, this seems like a difficult "mistake" to animate correctly - either they'd have to build a diorama with real distance between the cells, or computer-composite them with varying blur. I wonder which.)
- If you were creating a sci-fi movie and had an apparently real talking cat at your disposal, would you use it as just a normal-cat prop? Seems like a funny lack of foresight into using their resources. Even if it's a secret that he talks, they'd get credit for good special effects!
- Watch the exposure - they have lots of indoor shots against windows so that the actors appear really dim by contrast
- When Yuki climbs out Itsuki's window, she thinks she's out of the shot but her hat shows she's still crouching right there
Then a note from the 2nd ep that I'll hide since it's new:
The argument over whether Monday is 0 or 1 has apparently carried over into the next-week's-episode teasers, with Haruhi trying to count the eps from 0 and Kyon from 1

ive also converted to 'Haruhi-Ism', pretty damn good show
and ep1 kinda throws ya off if ya dont sit to it till realization sinks in..
and ep2 is really where the story begins. |

Haruhism... hmm... well... guess this anime easily win the interest of many in just 2 episodes. I hope Haruhism doesn't spread too much or else it'll definitely cause unwanted consequances... _________________ [img:800:198:5c85a10b1b]http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1347/feenasighk3.jpg[/img:5c85a10b1b] |

my fav part of episode 2 is when haruhi is fondling mikuru .. telling kyon how great they are and is praising mikuru but then all of a sudden she is so jealous and is ready to hurt mikuru if kyon didn't step in .. the expression and the hand movement she has at the time is just hilarious
oh and also the way how she tell mikuru to quit her caligraphy club and then does that hand movement thing is soo coolll
and ofcourse the op/ending rules |

| I hope they dedicate an entire episode to that cat. Freaking hilarious. The first episode was pure genius. The way the comedy was handled was quite different from other animes, in that it dosen't rely on a gimmick(usually sexual) or overused personality traits. Instead they use dialoge for that purpose. |

They did a great job emulating crappy homemade video
Skipping all the obvious ones
1)The camera resolution is poor and is at a reduced size
2)When Mikuru gets her pay when she's running home only on the 4th run it shows her with the envelope between her breasts
3)Blue Screening and fuzzing when the camera cuts
4)Background contrast against light is frequently disorientated
5)The direction Yuki Nagato and the ESP guy are facing each other is wrong
6)The camera focus on the 3 'mind controlled classmates' keeps shifting
7)The sky is frequently whited out
8)Mikuru covers the panty shot they do (she has a mole on her right thigh)
9)The ending scene where they do the sakura blossoms are what not suddenly darkens because of the lighting from the sun.
Kyon does a few camera errors and who's doing the panty shots?
The Cat is an Alien
PS: Haruhi looks like Shana |

God, I pity Asahina now. Haruhi really stuck to her words when she said she was recruiting her only for the loli-face and big breast. Bunny-girl... even Kyon got aroused by it, after that declaration of protection. And Asahina's lines after all of that...
"Kyon-kun, if I become ruined to marriage, will you take me?" I don't know whether to laugh, or feel pity... In fact, in this episode I don't even know what to feel.
Yuki's already confessing that she is an alien, and Haruhi is not a normal human. Hope this will get it started!!

awww... Haruhi picks on Mikuru too much. I felt so sorry for her and I was actually a little shocked because all that stuff Haruhi did to Mikuru wasn't that funny to me.
Although the story is developing at a good pace I don't really like where the plot maybe going.
I figured this show would be a slice-of-life type show, with lots of wacky stuff happening but not stuff that defies the laws of reality... Yuki an alien?!?!
And the show is starting to become more serious... why can't it just be shallow pointless fun T_T |

"Haruhi-ISM"....such a beautiful word.
Ep. 3 was...da bomb
Mikuru-chan was...assaulted LOL. Such methods that Haruhi will use to get the things that she wants by force or by extortion^^.
I liked the Bunny Girl Haruhi and Mukuru combo. and Yuki...she's one of a kind "person". And at teh end she told kyon that she's an Alien.
.sigh...Don't you think it'll be much more fun if Haruhi was REAL?. I'll be more enjoyed to go to school if she was a REAL person which will make everyday school life interesting and Enjoyable!!!
and where can we see the great teachings of haruhi? _________________
