Zegapain Synopsis & Reviews at Anime-Source.

The preview for this Anime just came out via Hell-Fansubs. Given its duration it is rather difficult to say what the show really would be like, but from KaTTnypp's description and some other synposis I read somewhere this looks like a fresh take on the "teenager kid pilots giant robot" genre. I'm waiting for the subs, but it looks like a promising new mecha show. I'm personally not to thrilled at the use (or maybe abuse) of CG sequences, but I guess it is fair to give it a chance until an actual episode shows up.
Looks like it came right in time for the Mecha fanboys in Japan, but since Eureka seveN is still in mid-release via fansubs it looks like it is going to have some tough competition to overcome. At least in the minds of the people who watch them.
So, Zegapain thread is up... rant on
EDIT: Ep 1 out.
As expected, noob pilot gets into the robot and destroys a bunch of others. Nothing new, nothing too exciting. Aparently this guy somehow survived the self-destruction of his robot and lost his memories, but he can pilot it with no trouble and, surprisingly, without even asking questions. And people though Kazuki Makabe got into his Fafner a bit too easily. Anyway, pretty standard episode one except for the dissapearing girl. Maybe it will pick up in the future. Right now it is just average.
Oh yeah, and the main character looks pretty much the same as Apollo from Aquarion, exept that he doesn't have a scar. What is up with that? _________________

www.zegapain.net is now active
I dunno, the blurb that Newtype-USA had regarding this series made it seem interesting, but after watching the official trailer, the show doesn't appear to be anything special. I'll keep an eye out for any new info as it emerges. _________________

watched ep 1. It's a gundam, matrix, school romance action anime. Kinda different.
also:
from what was in the episode, it's almost as if there are multiple realities/dimensions that those people swtich into and out of. Remember the comments about this not being his first time in the mech? He's also in the begining mech against the things on the moon. So i'm thinking either there are multiple dimensions, or his memory is wiped out after each "encounter".

Liked it until they got to the part where
the main character knows how to pilot a mech even though he has no memory of it.
Find those situations of "Hey I can do this well and it is my first time in this reality and I have no memory of past realities that someone else seems to know of!" utterly annoying. It has been used one to many times.
Dropping this show. |

This anime is really nice, and I totally love it. It has good looking characters, good animation, and most of the computer generated graphics looks nice. The only thing I don't like is the Zegapain units' torso design, and VERY SLIGHTLY, during the fighting, the movement of Zegapain Altair wasn't as fluid.
I guess some of the 3D stuff is cool, certainly more impressive than if they did 100% non computer graphics, but it's just not my taste. I'm probably spoiled on Gundam and stuff, where they draw all the robots out, and also turned off by the huge amount of horribly done 3D robot animation. Still, I would rate Zegapain pretty high, since a lot of the futuristic effects are nice. Makes me want to get an XBOX360...but then the only games I would play would be Halo3, DoA4, and Zegapain. |

Second episode is out... and I'm still unimpressed. The action sequences are not that exciting and I'm still shaking my head at the use of CG for the mechas and whatnot. especially since it clashes with the rest of the animation, which only includes bits of CG here and there, mostly in backgrounds and details.
Even if Kyo thinks that the Zegapain and stuff is some sort of game he still asks surprisingly few questions about what is going on, specially after the others make it clear (to thrmselves) that the fight is actually quite a serious matter. At episode 2 we till don't know what is going on. What is the Zegapain fighting against? why? Basically: What he hell is going on here? so far we've only seen this kid get into a robot and blast some grunts away. Big deal. Hopefully the plot will drop by soon.
I have not quite taken a liking to this anime yet... I hope it picks up in the next few episodes

well on ep2
you learn a lil more bout the other "world" that the fighting accurs in. I'm figuring this is a 26ep series so they're starting off slow. You have a guy who needs to pilot a mech and save the world from the ebil badass monsters.
It's shaping up to be a typical mecha saves the world anime. Only difference is the teleporting thing. That's the only interesting thing the anime offeres.

I am thinking of the line, that somehow that it is actually a serious "game" of some sorts. And that lead just got reincarnated or something, but with no memories _________________ ... |

| What intrigues me is how time moves strangely and Kyo seems to have no notice of it whatsoever, as if it's just normal for him. |

Yeah..after watching the first two episodes I've come to the conclusion that I'm more interested in the character love development than the mecha action. I don't feel that compelled to watch it though...it just doesn't compete with Fafner or the other big name mecha animes. The mecha design is nice and all, but somehow I just can't seem to enjoy watching the fight scenes. _________________ PM some funny pick-up lines please > |

Thank you. Thats what I was thinkng too. I want to see how the school stuff goes too, because the whole mecha part right now is too... underdeveloped. Let's see how it does next episode. I thik it will come out tomorrow or in a couple of days at most. _________________

Although the anime is nice (Should be) but I don't like the mecha, the design bit bad compare to gundam or aquarion _________________ [IMG:141:69:d8ac1af1d9]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v445/ggkeat/I.png[/img:d8ac1af1d9] [IMG:148:77:d8ac1af1d9]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v445/ggkeat/SF.png[/img:d8ac1af1d9] |
