which one's better? what's are the differences between photoshop and illustrator?

IT's not the same kind of software.

Photoshop is working with pixel, touching photos and such. Illustrator is based on vectors and is much more suited to do designs, logos and such. The way they are used and what they can produce is really different.

use a program called "coreldraw" and such?

Frundock pretty much explained it all.
Those two are very different.
Illustrator is basically a "connect the dots" tool. The biggest difference between pixel based graphics and vector graphics is that: when you zoom in on a pixel, you start seeing individual pixel get larger. With vector graphics, no matter how much you zoom in or out, the lines stay as sharp as its original size. This is because, the illustrator basically recalculate all the coordinates and recreate a new line according to zoom.

Things drawn with Illustrator look crisp and sharp; which is perfect for stuff like logos and designs like architecture.
I like Photoshop better when I draw stuff, because it feels more "freehand" than the rigidity of Illustrator.

Illustrator is great when you want to vector trace low quality drawings. Perfect for those magazine or artbook scans of anime drawings. Because unlike photos, anime uses lot of solid colors, it looks great when you convert it into vector graphic. When you see those fan-made anime wallpapers, vector traced wallpapers are very common these days. They have very clean and crisp look to them.

One isn't necessarily better, they both have their uses. You just have to use them accordingly to the situation.
For example, you can vector trace an image, then use photoshop to add things into it.

i have both but i only use photoshop, becuase my illustrator is in chinese, and i find it hard to understand, especially when the terms get techinical. there is no way to change the language other than install the english version of its right?
