More like you will spend more in accesories than the Wii itself. I think the cheap cost of Wii was just a gimmick for what the real cost of Wii is...
And THAT'S how Nintendo will be making some profit off of the Wii. Let's just forget about the awesome launch titles as well as Smash Bros and Galaxy for a moment. When you get a sweet multi-player game, your going to want to have multiple controllers. BAM! $60 dollars. From a business standpoint, it's actually quite crafty and smart. Sell the console cheap and make up for it with all the accessories you'll be needing to play the games (the fact that the Wii mote has a USB-like connection; imgagination is all it takes and you can create all kinds of accesories outside of the nunchaku and classic controller).
By the way, the nunchaku accessories does come packaged with the Wii console.
I'll give you the online argument. I still don't know, considering the circumstances, why they couldn't figure out how to implement an online program yet. Lest we forget, it's supposedly free so we'll just have to wait and see. If it's anything like the DS though (which I'm guessing it will be quite similar), Wii Online shouldn't have a problem at all.
Nintendo knows what they're doing.
Keep on arguing though. I want to see how far you can get... =)
Xbox 360 and the PS3 was better though, Xbox 360 was released last year, which means next year the quality of games the Xbox 360 producing are going to be in AA quality like Halo 3. And thats what the delay is for and Lost Planet. Which actually is good even from the demo I've seen.
PS3 already have solid fanbase from their PSX and PS2, and with Oblivion and Metal Gear solid 4 as their launch titles and the new final fantasy, they will also sells alot.
But what about Wii?
Did they have fanbase? Did they have quality games? Did they have technological advances? What they only got is that controller. And I bet that the game developers are having a hard time to code their games in Wii because of that controller.
Anyway, I will show you the graphics of Wii. There's a site here, and its not that good. BELIEVE ME.
I was going to sit and watch you guys go at it, but there are these two readings that I'd like to share. But first, I guess I'll answer some questions before I give 'em away (just in case you refused to read 'em xD).
Does the Wii have a fanbase?
Yes, from Nintendo's fanbase. From NES, SNES, N64, to Gamecube, and from GameBoy to DS. The thing with Wii is that they're not only going for fanbased costumers but also for the non-gamers, like grandma or mom.
Do they have quality games?
Yes, Mario hits, Zelda, Metroid, and a bunch more. They've also got good quality third-party game developers as well, like SEGA.
Do they have technological advances?
Yes and no. All of these console companies based their designs from existing technologies. They have roadmaps of what's going to be in the future, buy the technology, modify and tweak it and make it their own. Nintendo would be the first one to break off from this roadmap with their Wii. Know what's funny? There's nothing technical advancing about your beloved Xbox and Xbox360, at all; while the new Cell processor is developed by STI (Sony, Toshiba, IBM).

You lost the bet. Wii's development engine is based off the Gamecube's so it's not really hard. Also, they don't have to worry about multiple processing cores. The only thing they're having difficulty with is calibrating the Wiimote so they could have it as a default setting for the game (since each games have different settings). The settings can be changed by the user. The developers do continuous tests from different testers to see which one would be the best setting for the game, and that takes time. But it's not hard. Here's a quote from one of the readings:
"Sony's PS3 is said to be too sophisticated for some overseas developers, which has led them to turn to the Wii to have products in time for Christmas, said Etsuko Tamura, an analyst with Mizuho Investors Securities Co."

im all up for the Wii its name and its unique controller...
i might have second thoughts though if im in the philippines since its not popular there and more likely the games would be hard to find.. but since im here in Canada i can go all out on it..
im buying mainly because its probably the only console i can readily afford.. good thing its a cool ass one.. _________________

Why call it Wii anyway? Revolution is much better. There are many jokes about Wii especially in the boards of gamefaqs. But seemed its all gone now.
What, this topic again?

I guess it aims to focus on community play, hence the name "we." This shows that Nintendo is still the core family console on the market. I think that their approach on the name is very appropriate, although at first a bit questionable. I have got to hand it to Nintendo this time on giving the system a good name, no matter how childish it sounds at first.
I'm kind of ticked off that the Wii's price is $250. Even if you do get Wii Sports, I'd rather get the console for $200, and then choose my 1st game, or play my GameCube games in Progressive Scan.
I´m most likely not going to get Wii at launch. But the price is very apealling. Yeah, Nintendo will get you with the extra contollers but I don´t see any other things that will cause gamers to spend more money then needed.

wow, this topic has been revived, anyway, fomr what it looks like everything was covered in like the frist and 2nd page,
as i have stated in older pages, and as KaminoSeihi said, its not the name that matter (that and plus Wii is easyer to translate into the other lanague/markets that it will be sold in) it was a stragitic move to name it Wii, Revolution was something the USA director came up with, not the oringal creaters of the system. _________________ Who said the dead wouldnt rise again?!?
Most people don't really care what the console will be named and neither do I.
However I think the new name sounds retarded. It sounded so much coller when it was the nintendo revolution. Now its the Wii. Its the most retarded name for a console I have ever seen

You just contradicted youself, you know.
But you know what? How about when you come up with a million dollar idea, you can go ahead and name that thing "revolution" (although it probably won't be any kind of revolution whatsoever). And how exactly do you find "Wii" to be the most retarded name? From what I'm seeing, the name is far more compatible with the console than "Revolution".
Maybe Revolution is the most retarded name for a console I have ever seen. _________________
