only the devolpment stage of the "Wii" was called "Revolution", same way the development of the "GC" was called "Dolphin", and also their excuse for calling it "Wii" is that "Revolution" dosn't translate back into japanese where they own their biggest franchise, so if you want to blame someone, blame the Japs for having a strange language

Wow... I don't know whether to be blown away by the last post's complete disregard of previous post and posting a lot of information that was already posted, or the second half of the post which was a completely loaded statement with amazing potential for racism.

but cant they just change the name
to some great fans the name wont matter but to ordinary people who just want to play games just be a little put off by the name.
i know the consel is going to be great and the controllers are going to be the next level of gaming
but Oh My Days cant they think of a better name
I just hope the next consel they are making is going to have a better name.

The fact of the matter is....ppl who just want to play to play.....will very most likely buy a PS3.......why?.....because the Playstation has a much greater veriaty of genres and games for more "mature" players.....

Nintendo will do just fine, like it has for all these years.....

nintendo does make good games, but I don't like the games for GC. I think they will be a lot better for the wii. I think thell have more mature games this time around. PS2 hasn't been making new title.

Wii will be the next PSX/PS2. Well, almost like it since Nintendo is a video-game-only company while Sony is a major company that does other appliances. Why? Because it would be really cheap to develop a game for Wii while the dev kits for PS3 aren't for everyone (a PS3 dev kit costs about $10,000). As for Microsoft, it takes a lot of learning curve to program for Xbox360, though a lot of companies admit that they are having fun with it. But Wii will just be merely a toy for these developers.

If you were awed by Nintendo's E3 2006 conference, well to tell you the truth, Nintendo used a GameCube housing for Wii. So if the graphics looks a little aweful to you yet the presentation was great, then be prepared to be more awed once they start using the real Wii stuff.

And I disagree to whoever said that Nintendo will rely on their fanbase. They're gonna try to make mothers play and buy Wii. They're gonna make your girlfriend ask for a Wii. Nintendo got balls to change their name to Wii. They're relying on time tol change your mind about its feministic, or rather, androgynous name. Well, maybe you won't, but a lot of people will. That's my 2 cents.

ill buy a Wii for LOZTP and SSBB but not really for anything else at the moment

you really think that they will do that? make your gf and mom WANT no NEED a Wii? i dout that scince ive never seen a really GIRLY game from nintendo, unless if you count those horible barbie games for the gameboy

In Japan...its not much of an issue. Nintendo has always been firts or second in the leagues ovver there....

But in the West, theres a completly different gaming culture. Many of the more obvious "japanese" games that come out on PS in Jp dont make it to the West....
Nintendo however dont make many of the games that would be found more appealing to Westerners~(such as many sports/racing and shoot'em ups)......the games are seen much more Japanese or "kiddy"....

which is why I think in the West, they will be relying heavily on fans....

Since when did video games ever have any kind of name? Or are you just another typical immature video game player who only plays for graphics and action?

And what the hell do you know about games like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon sucking? Have you even stopped to look at what kind of decently good ratings both games have gotten? I bet you you were thinking that they were one of the craptacular game, didn't you?

I'd keep this up, but I'd rather stay on topic and keep this thread up.
