ummmm maybe because in the Death Note universe, Death Gods (Shinigami) exist and Angels don't? judging by their lifespans, Light and Misa will be LONG dead by natural causes. I think Misa only has 2 months left. and Light has 10 months?
I mean Misa's number USED to be at 15, then she spent some time captive, lowering it to 10 and getting it halved to 5. So she has about the amount of time they spent in captivity on her lifespan. and light has 5 times that remaining.
I'd also like to add, spending half her remaining time again... was foolish since Rem will kill for her.
I'm not sure I like where this series is going. I'm also having trouble getting inside Kira's head.

I think you are waaaay off.
Why the heck would Light have his life span reduced? There is no reason whatsoever that Light's life span would be reduced by Death Note. Misa's life span was reduced twice. For example if her natural life span was about 90 years, first deal would have reduced it to 45, then the second deal would have reduced it to 22.5 years. So Misa will die very young. I'm not sure how old she is, but if I assume she is 18, she has 4-5 years left to live.
Or I could think of it this way too. Assume that she originally had 60 years left to live, and first deal reduce it to 30, then the second deal reduced it to 15 years. So she could have 15 years left to live. I think this way of thinking is more simple and logical.
Light never made the deal, so he will have natural life span that he was meant to have.

And dont forget that Misa got Jealous, the shinigami that died for her, lifespan. We dont know how much life he had left. For all we know he could have had 500 years to live which was passed on to Misa. As we dont know how much life that shinigami had there is no fact behind the statement that Misa would die young.

You are wrong there. Look at episode 12 from minute 18.50 and you will see Rem explaining to Misa that she got the remaining lifespan of Jealous.

Oh you are right, I didn't have the episode, so I went to youtube to see it. So she was suppose to die at that time when Jealous saved her, and she was using Jealous' lifespan. She halved that lifespan for the first deal, then again for that second deal.
So with all that shortening of life, she was close to death again, probably by getting caught as Kira and getting the death sentence. To prevent that, Rem saved her and gave her lifespan in turn. Damn lucky Misa, so she probably has another full life ahead of her because of this, despite making the deal twice.
