Unknown Anime, please help others identify here.

The answer to ImmutanT's question back on page 2 is Dual: Parallel Trouble Adventure.
The main character finds his way into a parallel universe where a small war is is being waged with mecha. The mecha can only be piloted by females, but for some reason he is the only guy that can use them. The pilots aren't physically linked with the mecha, but they do take a kind of mental stress where they can't "sync" with the mecha anymore.

Now for my own question. I only saw one scene, but a guy that I presume to be a main character was doing a demonstration of a mobile suit. Not gundam style, more like an oversize suit of armor. They fought with pretty much regular swords, and the suits had a colored gem (a power source?) that would disable the suit when it was crushed. The guy beat three of the country's suits at once, but the king/official wasn't completly impressed because he had only disabled them.

anyway my own question...
Unfortunately I have no screeenshot of this anime since it is recorded on tape...but the tape is old and even when the title of the anime comes up the words are fuzzy and i cant read the japanese chacracters. Anway I'm pretty sure this anime is during the late 90's since i watched int while i was in hong kong in 2001 so possibly 2000 or 2001...though the animation looked more 90's. Since i've only seen a few episodes, im not acutally really sure what the story is about. So the descriptions are going to be bitsy.... its a comedy genre anime
it had:
--> army organisation/s
--> the main character has black hair and wears a red t-shirt under his uniform, he has a codename which can be translated as 'shinigami' from the cantonese dub
--> has a ninja and his pet dog, the ninja is in super-derformed form he is dressed in blue and has a black and white dog.
--> the main female character is blonde, madly in love with the main character (Japanese name might be Ranko) turns out to be the daughter of a super rich guy
--> random couple that appears randomly by the names oh Linda and John
--> another female character in the higher ranks sorta looks like noin from Gundam Wing, but has a red streak through her bangs
--> they discover a robot/android thing (possibly names Sakura) that thinks the main character is the professor that created her, so she folllows him around.
--> the commander is a big musclely scary looking guy that is bald...but aspires to be a shoujo manga-ka....

thats all i can give....so any clues anyone?

the name of that show is Zoids.
it was actually a REALLY GOOD ANIME.
the anime is kinda like Eureka 7, except the robot is that of a cat and the pilot is chosen by the mech. hope that helped.

umm yea. . .
i was wondering if someone knew wat this anime was.

it's about two sides, the technological side(dark side) and the nature side.
this one girl is raised by talking wolves and they eventually meet a boy who falls in love with the girl but the wolves disagree.
eventually the two sides fight a final battle.
in the battle the machine come to LIFE.
