Hey guys. I was sitting at home today and I just couldn't find a blade of the immortal wally i liked. So i decided to make one:P. my first ever and it's tougher than i thought. At this point i'ld keep adding color etc but what bugs me is the how much the pic itself stands out. We have a lot of talented CGers here so i know im coming to the right place. Im using PS7 and wondering how i can better fit the characters to the background. HELP!
Indepth sign:

umm, I don't really like it. sorry...
first of all, the brown background is kinda weird and the textures look really bad.
I don't want to be offensive, but it's just not good in the current state. It really does need adjustments, or perhaps total redesign or something.
Can't give you any tips, I am no CGer, sorry.
but if it's your first wall ever, then it's not bad at all !!!!

| You know, saying something looks really bad without giving the reason as to why it looks bad is considered flaming. Just a little food for thought Abadonna. |

Well, I did say that textures are bad. It looks like a really bad scan. The picture of the two people is all smudged. And the whole background looks badly smudged too. Looks like an aged worn out painting.
Well, I just provided details of what I said before. I'm sorry I didn't mean to be flaming. It was just my personal opinion. |

hmmm. aged and worn out painting is what i was going for bud. The fact that u pointed it out makes me happy that i got something right. It looks like a poor scan... because i had to decrease the quality considerably in order to use A-S' upload feature(100kb or less from 3.1M 1280x file). That's why i blew up certain areas so u guys could get a better view and point out stuff i can work on. Also the picture was blurred using gaussian blur to smooth it out since it was full of noise and did not go too well with the background. Now the pic is still not too good with that background and so i asked if there were any othere's that would perhaps go with it before i set myself to draw an original, which quite frankly, isn't possible yet because of school .
ANYWAY while i'm on it i'll explain the background. One particular section of the Manga has a character who is a mask artist. He designs masks similar to the Anbu masks worn by the guys in Naruto with the strange swirls etc. Anyway, the dark red on aged canvas(at least it was the effect i was going for) symbolizes this guy working with blood , which he was capable of doing and which u would have know had u read the manga AND from ur comments it's apparent u didn't.
I asked for comments to help me. I originaly began this project to have one for myself since there aren't many out there. Toot has shown interest in it so i'll continue to improve it and post it for any of those who would also like to have it. I do respect ur opinion, but in all honesty i didn't ask for a critic - I asked for help in creating it. So thanks but no thanks bud. _________________ [IMG:508:164:6c8e3c695e]http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p252/inqArk/Original_sig.jpg[/img:6c8e3c695e] |

well, the goal of criticizing is to actually help the artist.
in this case i totally misunderstood your intentions regarding the layout of the wall, and i apologize for that, hence all of my critique was useless.
i wish you all the best regarding your artisitc beginnings |

I would say the second ( finished ) product is better than the first. A problem with the first was the two different textures between the background and the prominent picture on the bottom right. I understand that the source and scan were imperfect but the results for that was still too contrasting. The picture of the two then were too 'striking' and flat to be left on the 'dot' texture field of the background.
Now this was rectified for the second finished product. As a result, the picture ( a new one ) with its grains now looks well blended with the background. This new wallpaper looks good now. There is still improvement to be made though. The bottom left of the picture of the two stands out too much ( especially the flame ). I guess a eraser with 60% opacity should allow you to 'erode' away the hard lines to ensure a smoother blend. |

I attempted a few dif things to blend the pic a lil better but they didn't give me the greatest results. I'll try messing with eraser opacities (which i think is the ONLY thing i haven't tried ) and see where i end up. Thnx for the comment Yeb. _________________ [IMG:508:164:6c8e3c695e]http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p252/inqArk/Original_sig.jpg[/img:6c8e3c695e] |
