A couple things I'm interested in knowing...
As the poll question says, do you still see go to the theater to see movies? Why or why not?
My answer... no, it's too expensive and the theaters are usually full of loud, rude, and obnoxious people. I have a big-screen tv with surround sound at home and I have the patience to wait for most movies to come out on DVD. The only exception I might make is if a really cool sci-fi or action movie comes out and I want the "full" effect of the theater. Comedies and dramas can always wait for dvd.
AND
How much does it cost to get into the movie theater near you? Specifiy matinee and evening show prices if different.
Around here in the Northeast USA, matinees are $7.25 and night shows are $9.75... yuck. My town had a cheap-theater where shows were $6 night and day, but they just recently tore it down. I could always go to the drive-in with 4 or 5 friends and pay $20 per carload and get to see a doulbe-feature... well, if I want to stay up until 1am and it's not sweltering hot out.
thanks for reading... now reply!!! _________________

In Sydney Australia its about $11 for a student concession ticket.
I think its a lucky coincidence that loud obnoxious people avoid most of the movies actually worth watching. I often wait a few weeks after the release so that the theaters are not as packed.
the film seems a lot more special if i see it in the cinema so im willing to pay the price. |

Not only are the tickets pricey, but you also aren't allowed to bring in your own food?
..Well, those were my only arguments against theaters.
But really, even though I rarely go to the theaters, I'd still like to go to them, becuase its sort of a nice experience regardless of the crowdedness.
General ticket costs I think are $8.75, but thats why I'd go for student discount or twilight hours which both are somewhere in the $6 area.
Also, I always go only when my friends go, it's always best to watch things together. _________________

I do go to the movies.
They are expensive around here. For an adult ticket it's $8-$9 and if you wat something to drink you hve to pay and it's more expensive then other places. You jsut have to eat before the movie, but it is nice to eat popcorn while you watch a movie. The tickets are about $4.00 more for an adult than a kids and those tickets are below 12. You aren't alowd to go see a rated R movie unless you are acommpenied by an adult and you have to be 18 to go see one by yourself, but you can buy a adults ticket when your above 13. |

I have NEVER been in the theaters here in the US. not once.
Not only is that the price is sooooo high, and I heard that they only show the movies for only a few times and you need to go out once the movie finishes...
totally different from the theaters in my country where you can just sit there until the movie finishes and wait for the next showing...you can alos bring your OWN FOODS inside. No questions asked! _________________

in my hometown they only charged USD3.06 (converted). it's relatively way way way cheaper than US, yet somehow most ppl here tend to buy pirated movies. _________________ "There's got to be another way" |

It's 12 $ in my town. For one person, 1 ticket + popcorn + drink = 20 $
There's always cheaper place... But when you start to taste modern theater... it'S really hard to go back a standard flat flor, straight screen theater. |

I didn't used to but now I go whenever something I want to see is playing. I always go to the matinee which is $5. $6.50 for night shows. I never buy popcorn or water(both cost $3.25). If I'm hungry I'll go to the McDonalds across the street and get a double cheese and a water for 2 bucks.
I go I missed seeing movies on the big screen and that extra loud sound. Matinees aren't very busy around here, once or twice I was the only one there! _________________ Live to be the best, to be the best - be yourself.

| I used to go to the theatres to watch movies. Evening showings are roughly in the $12.00 range for the different theatres. Now on the rare occasion, if there's a movie I really want to watch then I'll go. But I don't like the current rules of theatres and the pricing. Also most movies out there nowadays aren't worth the theatre prices. |

well I don't have that sort of money to affors a big screen TV and surround sound, so I go to the movies. In NYC it costs $10.75 for a movie ticket. WHAT A RIP OFF. But still I like watching movies on a big screen with surround sound, makes the whole movie experience so much better. |

Only if its somthing I realy wanna see is my answer...... cinema is expencive....and even if its somthing I realy wanna see I rarely get to go.....so for me, its always a real treat to go.......which is a shame, seeing as I love going.....nothing better than a large screen, bunch of pop corn and junk food.... and watching a film with your mates..... its just the atmosphere of it....
Around here, it can cost from £5.50 up to £10 plus......so yah, realy gotta look around for a good theatre before going in one... |

I still go to movies because it's something fun to do on a friday night with a bunch of friends. Come on, nothing like a good movie and going out to eat and possibly going out for a little walk in the park at night. I mean it's really the only thing other than playing games that's fun for kids who can't go out to drinking parties, or clubs to dance.
Beerfest, and Accepted were two movies that I saw recently that were pretty good. _________________ PM some funny pick-up lines please > |
