|
|
I'm a huge comedy fan, figured I would start a thread to direct folks to some of my favorite routines. I'd love to hear some new stuff myself, so please post - but make sure you reference a specific routine - not just your favorite comedian.
This is currently my favorite George Carlin routine, but it's a hard choice, the man's got a 45+ year career: Listen to Advertising Lullabye by George Carlin : http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/13782351
(Napster requires a quick register for you to listen to that track, but you don't need to sign up for anything and they promised me when I did it they woudln't send me any e-mail and have so far made good on that promise). |

Curses! I have been wanting people to post in my Craig Ferguson thread in the Entertainment section! He is hilarious! But I see what you mean about comedy and its importance. And I love George Carlin, especially his tirade on organized religion:

Funny! Hope nobody from the free for all threads, particularly the ones concerning religion and evolution (which are not mutually exclusive by the way) sees this and gets pissed.
For my comedian, I like Craig Ferguson, especially his daily monologues. He always has these quirks about him. (You guys might not know, since only 6 people have even viewed the Ferguson thread and 0 have replied). One thing he always starts off with a sexual innuedo, particularly referencing oils and shaving off hair...Anyway, his monologues tend to be more cogent than other late night hosts, so you might enjoy them (unless you like irrelevant strings of jokes, aka Family Guy, [see South Park])....

Who can deny another funny comedian? Stephen Colbert! He is really funny in his over-the-top political pundit persona. Here is one where he makes some entendres and shockingly ironic points about the Republican Party:

Oh how very exciting, I'd never heard of Craig Ferguson and the whole reason I started this thread was to learn new people. I agree that Stephen Colbert is excellent. Anyway, that Craig Ferguson stuff made me laugh, I'm definitely going to check him out further.
I've seen this lady live, and she's funny as hell and definitely insane. Anyone seen "The Comedians of Comedy"? She was on that. Listen to Hollywood Standards by Maria Bamford : http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/15209170 |

you want to hear THE WORST stand-up comedian of all time? Google "Darrell Bluett" (I think that's his name... some variation of Darrell... darel, darrel, darell, daryll... whatever). Anyway, it's so bad that it's hysterical. _________________

| Ugh. I did. I'm not sure if it's bad enough to be funny, just bad enough to be... bad. I first heard this routine something like 20 years ago and still find it just as funny: Listen to Natural Childbirth by Bill Cosby : http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/12650283 |

I haven't been following Craig Ferguson, I'll have to check him out. I am a big Hicks fan. I like when he talks about teonanactl (look it up) being a squeegie for his third eye.
Another classic: Listen to Dave (Album Version-Greatest Hit) by Cheech & Chong : http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/12086012 |

I love Dane Cook, but I've only ever heard him on Comedy Central. How many albums does he have out, do you know?
