Well, I hav a SEGA DREAMCAST. And I love it! I have games like the original Soul Calibur, Fur Fighters, Aero Wings, and new games actually come out once every 7 months or so! So fast, right? Does anyone have a DREAMCAST? If you do, brag about it here, talk about your favorite games, and tell some stories.
One of my experiences with my DREAMCAST is the BOOT DISK. For all you gamers who don't know, (for my dreamcast at least) the BOOT DISK is used before putting in older games. One of these games is the original Soul Calibur. One weird thing about the boot disk that always scares and wonders my friends is when I start the boot disk, it shows a giant reindeer floating around.. Cause' I downloaded the disk around Christmas time. Now I can't change it....kinda still scares me... _________________ [img:397:200:2fb029b052]http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/5003/kyo11d1041058je.png[/img:2fb029b052]
Life is full of little moments. Moments that can change your life. In battle, you must conquer your fears for the one moment! Death or Life?
Are you sure that your games aren't import or copied, otherwise I don't know why you're using a bootdisk.
I've got a DC for a long time and the only reason I use a bootdisk is for import games.
Played a lot of games on it like chu chu rocket, snk vs. capcom, skies of arcadia, ikaruga, powerstone and a lot more.
Now it just gathering dust as I'm don't play on it anymore; it's a pity 'cause the DC is still a machine that can compete with the GC.

ummmm..........lets just say out of the all the games that SEGA has come out for Dreamcast(I have ALL of them), the boot disk is used for the "earlier" Dreamcast games. The first few that strated it all. I use the boot disk for games like Soul Calibur, Speed Devils, and others. _________________ [img:397:200:2fb029b052]http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/5003/kyo11d1041058je.png[/img:2fb029b052]

Actually a boot disk is only for two kinds of games, imports and copied games (I remember my feeble attempts at copying games -_-). Saying an older Dreamcast game needs a boot disk before you can play it is like saying you need a boot disk to play Gran Turismo 3 on the PS2 or Super Smash Brothers Melee on the Gamecube. It's just pointless and incorrect.
I really liked Virtua Tennis. It was such a fun arcade style tennis game.

I'm tellin you, you're wrong. ALL my games are copied, and only the EARLY games need the BOOT DISK!!! Jeez! Anyways, we should post pictures of our DREAMCASTS and stuff, if you have one. If it's covered in dust, keep the dust on! More laughs. If you can't tell, I really like my DREAMCAST. Probably because all my friends have XBOx's and PS2's and stuff, and whenver the come over, I play cool games, and I wish I had those games. Jealousy mixed with pride, I guess. I do like saying, though, "Hey, you might have a better game system, but do you have all the games? No? WELL< I DO!!" It makes me feel better.
It's too late, but wait till tomm. for pictures. _________________ [img:397:200:2fb029b052]http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/5003/kyo11d1041058je.png[/img:2fb029b052]

I doubt anyone would do that but sadly, I lost my Dreamcast after Katrina. I still used to play it then, only for playing Power Stone 1 & 2, Worms, and Crazy Taxi. _________________

Ahh! I love the Dreamcast! I still play with it, because I don't have any newer console...(Don't feel sorry for me, because I am satisfied with my DC)
I must still say I am satisfied with my machine. I have Jet Grind Radio and Skies of Arcadia, my two favorite games. In Jet Grind Radio, graffiti and roller blading tricks combine for one revoluionary game. The music is also awesome, but much of the lyrics are in Japanese. This game was also a pioneer in the cel-shading graphics in games. My favorite game of all time.
It just so happens that my second favorite game is also on the DC: Skies of Arcadia, a classic RPG about swashbuckling pirates (a port with extras is on the GC). I guess I was just refreshed that I wasn't playing another insipid Squaresoft FF game. However, I just loved the thought of being a pirate (my religion, Pastafarianism considers pirates to be absolute divine beings). One thing I loved about the game was the linear airship battles, which I had never experienced. Also, the game shows "function over form," as one review once remarked about it. There were so many flaws: typical story line, high random battle encounter rate, and bad voice acting if any. However, there were only a handful of characters in a party, so the game really shines in how it has character development to really grasp the mind of the player.
Just in case anyone wanted to know, my third favorite game is Metal Gear Solid, which was on the PS1, but it was also playable on the DC with the Bleemcast boot disc.
Anyway, I hope this thread stays alive, 'cause I have so many questions about certain games:
TheLoverofAllAnime, do you reccommend AeroWings? I am not good with those flight simulation games (bad experience with DC's Starlancer)
Do you guys know anywhere I can get a boot disc and can anyone explain to me how Dreamcast games are copied? How is the GD-ROM compressed into a CD-ROM? Does that mean certain games are downloadable? Because there are certain games I can no longer find or are so rare: don't want to import the Japanese version of Berserk (game based on anime/manga)
I also heard that towards the end of the Dreamcast's life, several projects were shelved and put on the Xbox, PS2, and GC: Shenmue II (except Europe???), Toe Jam and Earl, Panzer Dragoon Orta.... Was this true?
By the way, has anyone played Shenmue? I tried to get a used one, but the disc was scratched! Man, I heard that game has Space Harrier, too, or was that Shenmue II?
Games I haven't played: PSO, Marvel vs Capcom, Capcom vs. SNK, KOF '98, Fatal Fury: Mark of Wolves, Berserk (I want Berserk!)...can't think of any more yet
Games I need help in: Resident Evil Code Veronica, KOF 99: Evolution, Red Dog, Star Lancer, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver...can't think of any more yet
Games I have played: Unreal Tournament, Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, Chu Chu Rocket...(more to discuss about)
On a final note, any hardcore or casual gamer should still get a DC. It is cheap as hell on ebay now, and games are great in this machine which was an integral part of gaming history (online gaming anyone?)
By the way, Aero Wings is an okay game, challenging sort of, but not a fantastic game. Also, those types of games aren't really my forte either.
I'll get in touch w/ my dad and get some info on how to get those games and boot disk that you desire. When I was young, he did all the downloading and stuff. _________________ [img:397:200:2fb029b052]http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/5003/kyo11d1041058je.png[/img:2fb029b052]

i never owned a DC, but one of my friends did so i went to his house to play it all the time(he never could beat me at soul caliber)
the DC would still be alive today if not for all the hype from the PS, after all the DC was better that PS, but because of all the rumors and crap, many ppl forgot about the DC _________________ [img:350:19:be5fcc88a6]http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/3905/userbar238357ug8.gif[/img:be5fcc88a6]

Rurouni Kenshin?
And the reason why DC died is mostly because of lack of money from previous console(s) sales that hurt them, lack of money for advertisements, had to deal with lawsuits, stores like K-Mart were stealing DC units from them, and lastly, lack of party support.
