| Has ne1 used the psxe emulator before? I'm having trouble with the darn thing. Sometimes when I got and play a game it loads like a part of the beginning and then freezes like in ff8 where it just loads upto the sony entertainment thing. Sometimes the frames go too fast and it wont slow even if I slow it down. So if you used it can you please let me know how all your settings are and the plugins that you are using. |

I bought a PS
...
No, I'm serious
Playstation emulators suck...and only run well if you have like..40 gigs of RAM
if you want games, mod-chip then burn..^^ |

Yeah, I used that to play my PS games since my PS1 memory card fails and I do not wish to purchase PS memory card so I use it.
I have tried playing the games and it works fine for me. What you need to find are the good plugins for your CD-ROM and also your video. Some of the good ones are Pete's plugins. If possible, try to convert your CDs to ISO so that you do not need to worry about the freeze.
And yeah, remember that you need a quite good system in order for it not to lag. _________________

Or just grab Virtual Game Station if you don't mind crappier graphics.

I remember having that problem. You just have to play more around with the settings, mostly the video settings. And yeah, it would be wise if you upgrade your plug-in drivers. Try using opengl instead of DirectX or vice-versa.
If the game is moving too fast on your system, then your system good enough to play PSX roms. (Try setting the frame rate to 24fps. Turning on the fps indicator should help so you could estimate how fast it should be going.) |

Even though I always have the emulator and a rom on a partition, my settings always get resetted after every reformat. And unfortunately, I don't currently have my FF8 game with me. It's different drivers and settings for every different computer for every different game (yes, you have to change configurations to play other games). If you're too lazy to do that, then that's where money comes in.
I'm currently in progress beating Metal Gear Solid (PSX) and I'm playing it on the console. Though, I'm not saying I'm too lazy to set some configurations on the emulator. It's just that I don't like playing games on my computer xD. |

If you do not want to do that, then emulation is not a good choice. In order for my emulator to work, I need to spend 2 weeks just to make sure that I know all of the plugins setting and configuration and tons of research on some of the terms.
And for my ePSXe emulator, I used Pete's plugin for all of the them: CD-ROM, Video, Sound, etc. That plugin can do tons of settings and also some patches for certain games that you can use.
And do not worry about the configuration problem. In the end, if something has gone wrong, you can just change it into default setting and try again. _________________

Like i said, get VGS if you are lazy to do some configuration. It doesn't require any plugins and i've played FF8 or Castlevania on it before so i'm sure it works.

You can also convert epsxe save files to VGS using converter from aldostools website. _________________ What's yours is mine, what's mine is still mine. |

Well, there is one, but I can tell you that in order to use that, it will be more stressful than when you set up and take it apart. In the end, certain things in the PS2 can't be emulated due to limited resources of PC. I really feel that it is useless.
In the end, if you do that, most of the time, dust will have no time to settle in your PS2, so it is a plus if you can do that. That time when I have no TV in my room, I do that every single time I want to play my PS2. Now that I have TV, dust start to settle on my PS2 and I need to clean it up once in a while.... _________________

Yes, your analogy is quite right.
Try Alcohol 120%. My friend says they're good or the best for making PSX image files (isos). I use a different program, but I can't remember what it is right now. Will try to mention it here once I log back to my Windows. |
