|
|
Hello,
I'm planning to buy a laptop so I was wondering:
Which is the most powerful?
I need enough power (or more than enough power)
to run the latest games (high quality 3-D ones I mean).
Yes I want a high end laptop.
However, problem is that is there a tablet PC that is as powerful or nearly as powerful?
I feel that tablet PC would help me big time (with you-know-what). But I want to play games too.
Worst case scenario, I'll bring my Graphire with me along with the laptop T_T
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
PS: Yes I do know that tablet PCs aren't popular. But besides wanting to have one becaue I belive it'd help me a lot, a teacher of mine who once had a manga portfolio reviewed also highly recommended it (showed me his portfolio - all drawn in the computer). And a half art machine and half gaming machine would be the perfect purchase^^ _________________ "please let me work"

yuck, dell. good luck with that one. i hope you don't get ripped off.
this should give you an idea what a really high-end gaming laptop would be like: http://www.widowpc.com/2005/06/gaming_laptops.php?google-gaming-laptop&gclid=CKWUuKb2voUCFRWVJAodCEm0qA
oh yeah, try to get or upgrade the RAM. especially for laptops, gotta try to get 1GB at least. tablets sure are nice but you gotta pay extra for a good graphics editing to do works with it. thing about laptops and tablets are that the colors would look different from their screen than it would on a CRT monitor. but you probably know about that.

GACKT
I only got $1500 budget to use for the laptop
I want a tablet PC capable of handling recent 3-D games
Or at least run this game (which I have) in max settings
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mnb18wnhhL8
Oh and yeah this game too (which I recently purchased) again in max settings
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY_JkOvKeoI
Actually the games I play on the PC are games from Falcom
(http://www.falcom.co.jp/)
Other than that, I "may" purchase Phantasy Star Universe for Windows
IF there's a tablet PC capable of handling it (I'll just grab the PS2 version if not).
Hmmm.... saying that I want a hi-end gaming laptop is indeed misleading (sorry) as majority of what I need is for my art stuffs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash etc.) while the part that I need for gaming would only be devoted to those few games (again, Falcom games and PSU).
Oh and like I mentioned above - with a budget of $1500.
Thanks _________________ "please let me work"

OMG! Everybody thinks that dell sucks, because they buy the wrong dell!
That dell is made for gaming, unlike the s*itty dells that cost about 800 bucks! ( Wich are made for working etc NOT FOR GAMING! ) _________________ XDXDXD |

yes, that's why i said good luck with Dell because of the reputation with what you just said. I still wouldn't recommend that laptop for art works for their display aren't quite bright.
Haven9270, even though this tablet has very slow hard drive and you may experience some lags, it can definitely handle the games you mentioned: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834115322
you can replace the hard drive later, but i doubt that'll happen >.>;
if you could spare about $300 more, this tablet can play World of WarCraft in around 30fps and Doom3 in around 20fps: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834115215 |

Maybe I could fork in some extra cash ^^
Though I've made up my mind that the priority is the tablet PC rather than a gaming laptop. If the most powerful tablet PC cannot handle my games then so be it - I'll grab a tablet PC anyway. But seriously I really wish it could handle my Falcom games at above minimum settings at least
BTW
Here are the requirements of the Falcom games
(arranged from newest to oldest)
Legend of Heroes VI (plus VI Second Chapter)
http://www.falcom.co.jp/ed6_sc/order/order.html
(scroll to the bottom)
Xanadu Next
http://www.falcom.co.jp/xanadu_next/order/order.html
(also at the bottom but above the requirements for Legend of Xanadu)
Ys Oath of Felghana
http://www.falcom.co.jp/ysf/order/index.html
(scroll to the bottom)
Gurumin
http://www.falcom.co.jp/gurumin/order/index.html
(scroll to the bottom)
Ys Ark of Napishtim
http://www.falcom.co.jp/ys6/order/index.html
(scroll to the middle)
----
It appears I'll be grabbing the PS2 version of Phantasy Star Universe^^
Again, I want a tablet PC that could run the Falcom games mentioned in above minimum settings.
But from the looks of it, the requirements seem pretty low though^^
I look forward to your recommendations:)
*crosses fingers*
Thank you very much for your help^^ _________________ "please let me work"

Im not sure this will appeal to you but if I was in your situation this is probably what Id do:
Buy a dell inspiron 9300 or higher notebook. It wont be cheap but it will be good, and of course if you want the silky screen coating itll cost a bundle more etc, the monitor size is large 17 inches I believe widescreen. at least mine is. uhh you can check www.edealinfo.com and under the dell coupons for 200 off 300 off 650 off respectively going higher as the price of your notebook gets higher. Of course you can just buy a gaming notebook elsewhere, but at least if you go with dell you dont have to worry abuot servicing your notebook (which I wont touch even though my desktop pc Ill mess around with all I want); to date, about a year or so now my dell inspiron hasnt caused me any problems, so it should be fine.
About the tablet part, if you do the above mentioned then I would prob go over to www.newegg.com and just buy a usb tablet. This way you can have a full end laptop for gaming, and whenever you feel like drawing you have a tablet with you. You might need to buy a bigger carrying bag, but wouldnt it be worth it? this method, depending on the options of the notebook you carry can set you back by a couple hundred extra dollars, or save you, it really depends on what specs you decide the notebook to be.
But I would definitely reccomend that, its the best of both worlds : get a notebook , buy a usb tablet add on. if you go by that, your options are very open now. |
