I'm shocked. I didn't find any thread about this series anywhere on this forum. and I was so hyped about this series even before it got released. This OVA series gets less attention than a country singer debut...
Anyways since no one made a thread...
Top wo Nerae2!

Episode 4
I was kind of beginning to suspect that Nono herself might be a buster machine, my guess was correct. She's some kind of overpowered miniature buster machine that can warp/teleport. sick.
But why is it that every climax of each episode ends up so cheesy? But don't get me wrong, I love every minute of this series. Nono's seiyu; Fukui Yukari usually has a very cute voice, but I felt that she didn't do too well on this episode. Especially during the climax, while Nono was battling and giving that speech, I heard her voice crack when she was yelling.
Now only 2 OVA episodes left; I hope Gainax pulls off another "Gunbuster greatness" with the conclusion of this OVA series. But I remain skeptical, this series is not even half as dramatic as the original was. _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img] |

Episode 5! WOOT!
The series approaches its finale.
Raruku's been feeling bitter about the defeat from last episode. Being viewed as inferior and useless compared to the buster machine nanago (Nono), she's developed a hostility toward Nono. Nono's become quite cool, nothing like her bumbling sidekick image from the first episode.
Though Raruku still had some spot light on this episode as well: Raruku's planet throwing power kicked ass.
Man, I wish I can throw planets around. _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img] |

This should be moved to the archive section now.
Anyways, the sub for ep 6 is out now by Lunar.
Before watching the ep 6, I recommend everyone to watch the first Gunbuster series if you haven't already. It is important that you do.
This finale really brought up the memories of watching the finale of the first Gunbuster.
After watching this, we finally find out exactly when in the future this series is in. In the Gunbuster OVA, it was 12000 years in future that Noriko returned home, so yeah... very far in the future indeed. But I can't believe that people actually forgot Noriko's name and call her Nonoriri. Does this mean that people actually forgot about Noriko entirely and it was Nono that told them about Noriko (as Nonoriri)?
That's kinda sad, but I think something big (probably space monsters) had happened during those 12000 years that led to a huge step backward in technology. Nono was the 7th Gunbuster created, which would have been very long time ago (when they still remembered about Noriko), considering that Dix neuf was No.19 and they consider him an ancient. The level of technology behind Nono is just incomparably to the new Buster machines.
One thing I don't understand though is, why did they plan to slam the earth into the space monster? I mean, there are lot of other planets available, so why earth? why waste a perfectly good planet when you can just crash some other colonial planets?

| One should reiterate that you should watch the first Gunbuster first. It brings some much needed light to the ending and throughout the series there is a lot of subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) stylistic similarites. Being familiar with Gunbuster will help you appreciate Gunbuster 2 (which are both fantastic shows) all the more. |
