But yes....mecha fights, transformation sequences are also fan service....

So are cameo appearances, famous voice actors, references from other works or eps in the series. Simple stuff that will either get the audionces to watch, or please the fans....

Hot girls and sexy scenes work the best, so thats why its so common, not only in anime^^

Shounen-ai is a boy x boy love like gravitation,yami no matsuei and others some have strong scenes and some have hints like mirage of blaze,tactics and others....well.
