I'm a Celsius person, I can't relate to people when they talk about temperature in Fahrenheit. I had to ask them what it is in Celsius... but most of the time, they don't know either~ Laughing

Celsius:
0°C and 100°C are arbitrarily placed at the melting and boiling points of water and standard to the metric system.

Fahrenheit:
Fahrenheit established 0°F as the stabilized temperature when equal amounts of ice, water, and salt are mixed. He then defined 96°F as the temperature "when the thermometer is held in the mouth or under the armpit of a living man in good health."

So what are you? A Celsius or a Fahrenheit? Maybe you're lucky enough to be both.

You know, you inspired this thread.. it's pretty nonsense, but I wanna know if people are more inclined to C or F. Laughing

Anyway, thanks for participating~ Wink

Celsius too. That's the common temperature measurement in the Philippines.

Woot~! Laughing

HURRAY FOR CELSIUS!!!!

I think Fahrenheit relly is hard to use... unlike in Celsius where freezing point is 0 and boiling point is 100. Quite, cleanly discussed. Wink

Farenheit? Celsius? Pfffffffffft!!!!

I admit I would prefer Celsius over Farenheit, which is useless especially in science. But both systems SUCK! The real temperature system is the Kelvin scale. But since Kelvins are so easily converted to Celsius, I prefer C over F; Phuck farenheit. Farenheits are for my fellow dumb Americans with whom I live. The only good use of Farenheits are Farenheit 451 and Farenheit 911, which incidentally have nothing to do with temperature scales.

-40 degrees farenheit: C=5/9 (-40-32) = -40 degrees Celsius
Wow! -40 degrees Farenheit corresponds to -40 degrees Celsius!
Also 451 degrees F (see above) corresponds to 233 degrees Celsius, the autoignition temperature of paper.

At least the Kelvin scale has significance in thermodynamics, kinetics, and other equations such as gas laws.

here's an american ::points to self:: well, this post is pretty much in line with "are you american or not?" since I believe the US is the only country to use the Fahrenheit system.

For those of you interested... 32 is freezing (technically for water, but when you see weather reports, you know that this is when ice will start forming on the ground and roads). When the air temp reaches anything over 80 degrees, it starts to get uncomforatble. Sometimes it gets as high as 120 in some areas. Where I live (Massachusetts), we see temps between -10 and 105.

Winter: -10 to 45
Spring/Autumn: 45 to 75
Summer: 75 to 105
