How do you draw anime? (girls in specific)

Yeah, can anyone give me a few pointers on how to draw anime? I can only draw it if i have the pic in front of me. I can draw like the exact copy of it in front of me, but when i try to draw it without the pic, my stuff looks like crap :\. Especially anime girls i can't draw...especially if the girl has boobs, how do u portray that on paper?!? One more thing, the hardest part i think is the clothing. I don't know where all the wrinkles/w/e of the shirts go, like in what direction? And i never get the eyes right :\...or the noses...or the hair...

well usually girls have smaller noses and big eyes. Also, girl bodies tend to be more curvier and not as sturdy as boy bodies. Try not to make the boobs really huge and saggy, and the hair is pretty long and more fluid than boys. The head size are kinda in a circley shape and try not to make the chin big or long. The waist should be curvy thin, but not to much. Well that's it, I hope my advice will help you, if you can scan a picture of the girl you drew, maybe we can take a look at it and see where you are struggling.

hehe oops, i already trashed my old drawings, well imma do a quick sketch tonight, and i'll scan it...though im not sure if my scanner will work cuz it blows! stupid scanner! Anyway i'll prolli draw it tonight just with pencil. The problem is i don't really know the proportion sizes .

haha, i have the same problem, except i don't have problems with anime girls, but with anime boys! >.< they look way to girlish, i can't do the eyes right... and i can't draw their body correctly either.. (and what to say about the clothes!....)
well i guess shonenjumpgirl told you about everything on 'how to draw a girl' ^^ but your girl doesn't necessarily have to be thin! You can draw an obese girl if you'd like =P lol hope to see your drawing soon ^^

have u ever observed a comic artist draws those things that you're lackingl? i always learn from observation.

use google, alltheweb.com, or youtube maybe to find videos of people drawing. (ie, youtube for jim lee or something, even though he doesn't do manga) pay attention to what order they do things and what techniques they use.

then again, that's just my style of learning. you say that you can draw if u have a picture infront of you. i can't do that, so there's a good chance that my technique may fail > >

Well, first excuse my english, I try to give to you the results of my investigations about the theme, I'm not an expert, so if someone thinks or knows something better I apreciate if he o she can share to us.
I can view three types of draws, the manga, the comics and the illustrations, the illustrations are similar like paints, the comics are more detail than the manga, we talking about manga type, the first thing you must to do is look the proportions of the body, the profesional use two metrics one based in seven heads and the other in eight.
In the seven head system, the shoulders is placed one and half heads down the top of the image, and have two heads width.
The hip is three heads down the top, the knees is five heads down the top, the navel is 2 and half down, at the same distance is the elbow, the arms begin in the shoulders and finish with the hands in the midle of the thigh, in ANIME the legs is lightly more long than the superior part of the body, and the knees be placed in the midle between the hip and the feets. you can incline the shoulders and the hip in oposite way, that produce a sexy aspect.
After this conciderations you make first a sketch using simple lines and circules to sketch the character, after thad you substitute this lines for cilinders and articulations with ovals.

aahh¡¡¡ the breast, I forgot¡¡¡ sorry, is placed in the middle of the chest, imagine a central vertical guide of the body, and one horizontal guide in the shoulders, in the intersection use 45 grades to get the niples, be carefull to don't put it so near or so long or so up in the chest.

Well, I know is complicate, you need a lot of practice, to females figures you need to use a lot of curves is impresindible, inclusive the elbow must be make with an oval, I hope this information be usefull, practice first this, and I'll give more information about head, hair and faces metrics, clothes and pliegues later.

Lil Info when trying to draw your own chars you got to use your brain like it has a photo in it see it in your head and pice by pice put it on the paper
