I sometimes wonder what's THE REAL FANS OF ANIME/MANGA IN JAPAN LOOKS LIKE, ARE THEY REALLY NERDS?
I like that type of story though, but sometimes the Japanese are weird. I think I'm getting a culture shock when I'm trying to research on their culture...

wouldn't anime be watched by a large variety of people
I know plenty of people who watch anime and they're not geeky, nerdy, dweeby groups of people. Although some of them are pretty weird
isn't anime and manga accepted as a part of Japan's culture???

not sure about anime, but I know a very good percentage of japanese people read manga. You know what, otaku wasnt really a BAD WORD, it only means family or a house in Nihongo. But otaku actually become negative word in Japan especially during 1980's. It already called a fanatic. Infact, the number one country that discriminates otakus the one that addicted to anime/mangas is Japan itself. They're even used it in almost everything to a person who is fanatic or obsessed with like graphic novels, gadgets, idols, animes, etc...
Yeah, If you atleast live in Japan, and you're obsessed with something just like animes/mangas then you called an OTAKU, AND BY THAT, YOU ARE A GEEK/NERD!
Atleast Japanese slowly changed their thinking about otakus by the title surfacing on the internet story board 2ch.net Train Man. Yeah, the title is becoming popular especially in Japan.
Thats why I post the comment if the real fans of anime/mangas in Japan are REALLY NERDS
Not all anime/manga lovers in the US are nerds/geeks....im 5'9'' blonde blue/green eyed, have a girl friend, and play soccer. I dont concider my self a nerd and niether does anyone else. I just so happen to love anime and mange, i went through a stage where i got addicted to it and never really got over it so now its just kinda like a hobby.

1 because if they leave the character the story dies
2 they guys get pounded like no tomarrow
3 its funny
4 it gives us geeks nerds and perverts (im a little of all lol) a nice escape from thinking of our own pethetic existence
5 because the guys who write the anime stroy line do it like that from past sucsess _________________ death is knocking on my door and darn it anyway im not answering.
I think it is kind of odd that people that nerds or geeks get the hot girls, it doesn't make too many sense to me. Shouldn't cool and popular people be with their same kind or just a little below...

We get enough of that anyways. Its better to watch a show where it seems like some regular dude just happens to get lucky and meet all these people. Its more exciting because we can relate to it. A lot of the failures the character has we do to. Id rather watch a person like me than someone... better? i dunno, whos more appealing to the opposite sex than me by a huge amount.

yea all the nerdy guys in anime get the cute (most of the time busty) girls because it will never happen in real life. i know most people say that this is impossible, but i myself am a nerdy-cool guy. i think that is how most girls in manga see the boys. i myself (i use myself as an example most of the time) am kinda like the manga guys. nerdy but sorta surrounded by cute girls. except they all have boyfriends T_T. as for love hina, its a good anime. one of my very firsts. yeah i've really wonders why those dirty minded guy would get those pure, cute, perfect girlfriend? well i guess that make the story more interesting, maybe it can balance their personality. say, if there's a "perfect guy" (school grade full of A+, soccer team captain, pretty handsome, aikido masters, able to buy 10 jaguars, etc... you know the rest *lol*) meet a "perfect girl" (same specs) it wouldn't be very interesting right? _________________ Whatever the past has been, has been the past...

The simple fact that nerds, geeks and perverts usually DON'T have girlfriends in real life supplies a perfect reason to make it so these types of guys get the cute chics in anime. Considering a lot of anime viewers are considered either nerds or perverts, this kind of situation appeals to them.
