haha the drawing has the same earring i got...  well since its a common earring type...
its good dude.. shading seems to be fine but it is only restricted to the neck and not to the whole pic... oh well.. its good nonetheless.. i can't draw anything liek that..

Well I didnt want to shade everything. I like it like this, simple and neat. 
The shading below the chin was addied, cause it looks weird without it.

nice work! i see youve got the old 'glass eye' effect down a treat!
like its been said, i guess experimenting with really light shades to pick out parts of the face that are prominent. Using a pencil gives you the freedom to make loads of lines on top of eachother to get a feel for the best placement of things.
use loads of guide lines too, show your method of thinking with the pencil (hmmm i think that was old physics advice coming back to haunt me)

Woohoo~ Atashi's first sketch~! Wow, great job! I'm so happy you finally posted something here~ 
Is that you?? Did you draw yourself?
And I think it does need shading too... in some parts. And when you shade, use the side of the lead, not the tip! Cause you'll get those sharp lines instead of smooth even shadow~

Hmmm I'm kinda learning about cross hatching. XD Sooo I'm shading with lines.

Cross-hatching~
Wow, just like the ones used on the mangas of Naruto and Bleach huh? Even when they converted them to anime, the shading lines are still there for an added effect~

I REALLLLLLLLLY like how you did the collars. Overall I think it's a pretty good piece and I'm looking foward to seeing more of your work. Nice job on the adam's apple too good attention to detail

I didnt know whether to do those kind of collars of those mandarin collars. XD
I thought this look nice so I chose it. For the buttons...*shrugs* I just didnt want to see the circular buttons, too common and it would annoy me.

Wow, that's awesome.
i think all you have to do is tone down the eyes. they are so ROUND and BUBBLEY. try drawing the eyelids and structure first without the eyeball. then fill in the eyeball after.
