The first movie in the "Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex" series it takes place 2 years after the events of 2nd GIG
Here is the symposis from wikipeda
The story takes place in 2034. It has been two years since Motoko Kusanagi left Section 9. Togusa is now the new leader of the team, which has considerably increased its appointed personnel. The expanded new Section 9 confronts a rash of complicated incidents, and investigations reveal that an ultra-wizard hacker named the Puppeteer is behind the entire series of events.
The new event starts with 13 terrorists sharing a Sanskrit script tatoo . They take hostages in an airport, and commit serial suicides. Section 9 steps in to conduct a counter terrorism investigation, and succeed in cornering one terrorist whose last words before committing suicide confirm the existence of "super wizard" class hacker Kugutsu Mawashi
In the midst of everything, Batou encounters Motoko while investigating the case from a different angle. Before leaving, she warns him to "Stay away from the Solid State Society." Batou is left with doubt in his mind: could Motoko be the Puppeteer?
The series of intriguing incidents that Section 9 faces gradually link together almost artistically. Who is the Puppeteer? What will happen to Batou's relationship with Motoko? What is the full truth behind this carefully planned perfect crime? And what will the outcome be? Mysteries surround the Solid State Society.
the offical air date of the TV version is Today september 1st. |

this edition is a movie... so I can kinda see why the licensor would be so protective of it. Manga Entertainment and Bandia have been licensing all GITS properties since the beginning, I'm sure counting on this being a huge hit... especially if they plan on putting it in theaters.
I haven't checked this out yet, but there's a trailer available here:

I have watched SAC plenty of times on adult swim on demand and just regularly as it airs as well, this series seems very intrested, and reminds me of an anime version of NYPD blue XD
I really want to get into this one, each episode seems pretty unique and different from each. |

dam if the company is gonna take up serious measures against subbing than someone either has to sub it without them knowing or i'm just gonna have to wait till the movie comes out in the u.s _________________ ALL HAIL LELOUCH

sub it without them knowing? ummmmm... well, I think the goal of most subbing teams is to gain wide-spread viewership of the series they release. Obviously they have no control over how big they get, but anything bigger than a blip on the radar would surely attract the attention of the licensing companies... they have internet access too. Plus, it's not like the fansubbers can ask people to stay quiet about it. All it takes is one person to send an email to the licenser before the whole secret is blown.

a big action anime like this... wouldn't you rather see it on the big screen? I know I would ^__^ _________________

| Kudos to that fansub group... not even taking credit for thier work... Not that you'd want to take credit for subbing a title like this. Have to say I thoughrougly enjoyed this. Will definately pick this up when it gets mainstream in North America... I really hope they continue the SAC series in another anime or movie. |
