New copyright protection or annoyance on fansubs

I noticed on some of the fansubs I get (Mushishi, and some other one I cant remember) there are horizontal lines on the far right of the screen. They are only about an inch or so long and the anime can still be viewed through them but they are annoying as hell. Does anyone know why this is being done or seen it on any other anime titles??

the only "distinguishing mark" I've seen on any anime fansub was the minute timer on Nanashi's Eureka Seven. I think it was just the raw supplier being dumb and not knowing how to get rid of them or something

really i've never seen those in any of the fansubs i saw, which one's are they in?
