|
|
I know this may be an odd topic, but I wanted to discuss some of the physics in anime, and a part from the fantasy of the animes world, could some of the stuff be possible. I would like anyone to bring up an anime or several and we could debate the physics, if they are possible, how so and whatever else can be added to that topic.
Please no "IT COULD HAPPEN, BECAUSE IT IS FANTASY" or "ITS ALL FAKE, WHY IS THIS A TOPIC?"
Also, it is a topic about fantasy, so no need to be serious to a "t"
Sorry if there is already a topic like this. |

i don't konw if this thread would fly seeing as almost all animes break laws of physics... even in their appearance...
so yeah...
expect that there will be answers like "its possible cause its fantasy" cause that is basically what it is...
we shall see though... _________________

'Physics in Anime' ... doesn't exist
Has anyone every read on wiki 'science in the anime world' or something along those lines?
Like 'hammer space,' the law of a group of 5 etc.... _________________ Get ready to vote for who you think is the Sexiest Anime Character!! |

my biggest problem is with characters who can leap up and over tall buildings. It seems that every anime character can "fly" or no one ever gets hurt when they fall from a high height. It was my biggest problem with Shakugan no Shana... seemed like anytime she was in a pinch, she'd just leap a mile into the air and she'd be fine. Even in an anime where the high-jumping ability seems plausible (ie, the girl is an android), to be able to jump that high with no real propulsion system or expenditure of fuel, it seems too unrealistic. _________________

My personal experience with physics in anime in anime would be the following
Physics doesn't applie to them. Look at there hair :p Look at people getting punched around BUT there is one thing it does applie to.!!!It does applie to the female breast. And than the physics seems to be even stronger than in the real world :p _________________ [IMG:430:120:e3eaef3cc8]http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/Sephi2K7/Signature/Yurisigv1b.jpg[/img:e3eaef3cc8] |

| I just wanted to see if we could give an argument to this topic, but i understand that it is fantasy and that obviously physics could not exist. I still wanted to try and discuss it. |

there are conventions that are constant thru a variety of genres.
like Shonen/action audiences will accept a reduction in gravity because they have in the past and it makes a better show.
but a 5 minute fight like that of DBZ on namek, I dont' think many people would accept, but maybe in DBZ clone animes that may occur.
So physics is whatever the author makes it, but generally is done by what the author figures the audience will accept.
in short PLOT >>>> LOGIC and physics. |

I don't really care all that much about the physics in anime being plausible or not, but rather if the fit the theme of the anime or not.
Two mainstream examples.
Naruto - It's about ninjas in a fantasy world, there are huge summoned creatures, there is an epic plot residing on awesome Jutsus. Breathing fire, jumping all over the place and running around Gaara so fast you look like a green haze: OK! It fits into the feel of the anime perfectly!
Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X, anyone? O.o) - It's an anime set in the turmoil of 19th century japan, where a major civil war has recently ended, the west is gaining influence on the japanese society and way of life. In the middle of this is a young samurai, who has put down his blood soaked sword, and his battle against his past which is catching up to him, while trying to maintain his vow not to ever kill again. Occational guys who are several stories tall, moving so fast that you can hit a person from nine directions instantaneously: NOT OK! It does not fit the theme or feel of the anime!
My humble opinion... ^.^; _________________ 秘密ã?¨ã?¯å¯†ã?‹ã?«éš ã?—ã?¦äººã?«çŸ¥ã‚‰ã?ªã?„事を言ã?†ã?®ã?

Yes they do, imagine if there really wasn't any. I mean... just take away friction and everyone would go sliding around. _________________ [IMG:500:115:e9a3b92989]http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a208/Viewtiful_E/AdaWongsig-Amelia.png[/img:e9a3b92989] |

Actual application, I dont think so, but Suzumiya Haruhi contained some interesting stuffs about current Theories ( esoecially the Novel Series )
Anthropic theory, Parallell Universe Theory, Time Paradox... mostly mentioned by Koizumi...( though in the Novle, Kyon himself made lots of references to Science Theories as well )

Yeah, it is kinda weird and ridiculous, when I watched Final Fantasy : Advent Children, the part where Cloud jumps or rather fly down many many stories after slaying the Behemoth. |

| Lots of scifi and anime like it have ideas based on current of past physics theories but the are just the insperation a source material that is used to create an anime it is usually taken ot of context or streatched to the breaking point. |

One major law I can think of that they break is that on every anime where they're in space (I can't think of an exception anyway) there's sound! You can hear explosions, they can talk, you hear planets rumble... yet there's no atmosphere.. no atmosphere = nothing for the sound to travel in, therefore, no sound, yet, what do I hear in every single one? lol.. but it would be incredibly boring if they did obey the laws of physics, it's what's good about TV. =P _________________ [IMG:299:160:032e8969be]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc150/konakona-chan/Lucky%20Star/LuckyStar006.gif[/img:032e8969be]

Explosions I can understand if for nothing else than the cool factor. But standing in space and talking to eachother (without space suits) just looks horribly bad; yes, I'm looking at you Heroic Age. |
