|
|
Before Ringu, what we seen in horror movies are all about the suspense factor, psychological terror factor and more of visual factor than the atmospheric factor.
Like slasher films, zombie films and Frankenstein and vampire/ghost films
And then Ringu came along, and now, we've seen horror films that we've never seen before. It started a genre, for me, the horror genre was evolving...
Before, horror films without gutts and blood and body counts are just for babies that easily scared, we can see right now that we never afraid or scared of those films anymore, unlike when we're young.
But then, the Ring came along, there's no blood, no body counts, no gutts NO ANYTHING just the atmosphere of the film. But WHY WE SCARED SO MUCH?
Why am I still scared of girls with long hair and have white clothes? REALLY... Do you still scared of these? |

it was brilliant...
they made it simple enough.. the lack of the other technical stuff made it raw and new... giving the viewers a new look and a fresh serving of scare...
i loved it.. watched it with a girl... gave me a good excuse to put my arms around her... _________________

Yeah. Its REALLY REALLY NEW! Infact, many film production started to copy's Ringu's theme. Especially in the U.S. and even here in the Philippines.
Just a senseless fact, in The Ring, there's only one person I've seen died... ^^
BUT IT'S GREAT! XD
And the fact that Sadako was the perfect interpretation of horror. Sadako actually coming out on your TV to get you with her epileptic move and her long hair and with those eyes.... |

| Ringu might have been good, but it did not start the "psychological" genre. Just look at some of the greatest movies The Shining and Psycho both of which were extremely scary and had very little blood. In fact they were nothing like the campy b horror movies that we know of. And both of which are considered two of the most suspenseful movies ever. |

Yeah, I know... I like Stephen King, but I think the green mile was the best of his works though. Though I like his works but he is weird.
Making those scary titles that it was nothing
Now, for the topic, we know that the shining and psycho WAS SCARY, but that was nothing compared to The Ring. You actually never expected it. A scary lady suddenly come out on your TV, the worst part is the WELL! SHE'S COMING OUT IN A WELL!
Now, thats SCARY! |

I guess, to a degree. I just still do not see how it is the scariest, or a genre starter, but that is just me. Don't get me wrong I really liked it, however, there are so many other movies out there just as scary or scarier. Oh well, we all like a good scare sometime, so whatever it takes right |

I think you're more of a psychological terror thing warlocklord, like the silence of the lambs, psycho and the shining thing. But I think you also like different genre of horror.
BUT HEY! What likes, likes... |

| I really like Silence of the Lambs, not a movie you could always watch but a good one still. No but I do agree with you, the movie good, and I do like a wide range of movies. |

| But then, the ring really influenced our movie industry though. Just as like psycho influenced movies before. In the old times, most horror movies that plaguing in the cinemas are the likes of King Kong, frankestein, vampires, draculas, monsters, ghosts, etc... |

Ah--Yeah..The Ring wasn't too scary..I guess it sort of started a revolution and made people think of more ideas for horrors but now they're overused..
And I'm disappointed with it's "sequel"...>.>;;;;
I haven't watched Psycho yet (yes, I know, pretty sad) but I've watched parts of The Shining and it wasn't scary..
Silence of the Lambs is probably one of my most favorite movies of all time--and so is Red Dragon..I don't quite remember watching Hannibal though..XD!~
But to meh, doesn't really matter what KIND of horror it is, whether it's playing your mind or it's very gruesome..Horror's just..horror..
Wait--did that make sense? ..>.> |
