Carol>>> you want a mature anime.. watch Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen... it is a OVA but it's story and theme is definitely for mature audiences only. _________________

i believe most anime have their mature content. it's just that u need to dig deep enough to be able to find it. most of their plots ain't as easy as they show on the surface. _________________ http://s2.darkpirates.com/c.php?uid=73670 |

I must say that mature animes are better, the blood isn't nessesarity the difficult story-line is enough, so if some child watched it, he would be either bored or amazed by pictures.
I think its because they are doing it for themselves.
I don't know any author who would do something he/she doesnt like.
Now onto the sub-subject.
Its not bad if some (Rated T) anime is obviously for matures. What would they do if child would saw a suicide? What would they do if someone blewup entire building before the child eyes? Put an M mark on it? I don't think so.
They have to be prepare for everything. I know already. |

Not with this dig into surface nonsense again because you've only seen Akira, Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell. Though I like the Stand Alone Complex series...
Lets face it! Like ironstove said, most animes dont have matured and serious storylines anymore. Infact, most animes today already started the american cartoons bandwagon that popularized by Genndy Tartakovsky that everyone seemed copying it. Just to sell their so called products and merchandise, like Yu Gi Oh, Pokemon, Crush Gear, Beyblade, PPG Z, etc...
The only so called matured animes that we can call right now are only sells on DVDs that not everyone can buy it. But look at in your local and cable animes right now, its plaguing with Yu Gi Oh, Pokemon, Mirmo de Pon, Beyblade, etc...
Even here in the Philippines it just PLAGUING. There are some matured animes, but most of them are MEH... like the law of ueki in Animax and HERO TV.
I could stand CN and Nick shows most especially than these so called matured animes. I mean, can you considered Yakitake!! Japan serious/matured anime? |

Carol>>>> I don't agree with that anime today don't have serious/mature story. I think I have to agree with cutting and miravarge, you have to watch the anime series lots of times in order to understand it's story. Anime is diverse so there is no such thing as anime without serious/mature story. _________________

Thats not what Im watching though. You're from the Philippines, right? You know the anime situation here right?
Animax even import animes from long time ago like Yuyu Hakusho, Flame of Recca and the original dragonball which have no story value just to cater the teen audiences. And thats what they're doing right now, and the fact that there animes are seen this, seen that like Digimon 5 times over already.
I like CN and especially Nick better, they're not after money anymore, AND THEY SHOULD, they will bankrupt if they didnt do it... |

Carol>>> I'm aware with the anime situation here that's why I bought anime DVDs. So I cannot suffer the annoyance on Animax of repeating the anime for the sake of getting audiences. That's one reason why I'm not watching Animax, they repeat the old series over and over again. This causes the old series to lose its value. Another reason is I hate English dubs.
The reasons I do not suffer anime fatigue:
1. I buy DVDs of the anime series that are good so I can be abreast with what's new.
2. If I finished an anime series, I review it on a personal note if it is worth it to watch again. If its worth it to watch again, I'll watch it. If not, not. This is the same thing I do when buying my anime DVDs.
3. If I don't like the anime replayed all over again, I don't watch it. I move on to other anime series. _________________

since we dont know each other, just asking:
Are your DVD collection pirated or not?
Since DVD prices here actually cost 750-1000 pesos...
And where do you buy those DVDs? |

Carol>>>> Small anime hobby shops in my hometown and in Manila. I haven't bought the box-set type. I buy them per DVD. I can get as low as 100 per DVD if I bought by set. My DVDs are original copy, not the pirated type. _________________

Go to the 2Rats anime store. It has branches in Glorietta, StarMall Shaw, Greenhills, and SM City North Edsa. The highest price I've seen in 2rats is 250 but they normally keep it at 150. When they offer sales, it can go down to 70 per DVD. The 100 per DVD happened to me in the anime hobby shop in Los Baños, my hometown. _________________
